Feel a bit guilty not visiting mum

This weekend we planned to visit my mum who lives 100 miles away for the weekend . but my son (20 months) has been poorly with a temperature of 39, lots of coughing and being very clingy. He has just had one cold or chest infection or virus after another and we thought it was best to keep him home to recover. But my mum sounds really disappointed that we're not going down. Aibu?

I'd take my DC to visit their gran in that situation but each to their own. Maybe ask her to pop down next time if the journey is too much?

She's allowed to be disappointed, isn't she?

Is your mum usually fit and well? My mum really suffers with her chest, as do I nowadays! So I wouldn't be taking my DCs to see her either if they were unwell. The same with my grandma.

She's allowed to be disappointed. Don't feel too bad I think you're doing the sensible thing. Hope your DS is better soon.
