To be losing my temper

I have a coworker who has moved to our city from overseas. He's a nice guy and easy to work with, except for one problem. He's constantly complaining about how much Canada sucks. It's to the point where he works in something nasty in every conversation.

Now, I'm well aware that our country is not 100% perfect. I also know what it's like to be terribly homesick, but it's all getting to be a bit much. Especially when he's plain wrong about something. The current complaint was about how Canadian strawberries suck, even though he was eating out of season ones imported from Mexico. He refuses to drive to a local farm and pick local berries in June because he's "sure they're garbage, too".

Am I a horrible person for being fed up with him? What is a polite way to get him to tone it down?

Ask him if everything about Canada is so awful why have you chosen to come here?
