I've been rumbled, cold Baked Beans.

DH is home from work with a sickness bug and he caught me with my secret snack which I have most afternoons before he gets home - baked beans, cold, straight from the tin with little chunks of extra mature cheddar cheese stirred in.
He thinks it's disgusting. I think it's heaven in a tin. I said everyone has a secret 'gross food' they love, he says they don't!

Who's being unreasonable here!? Grin
I've always hidden it from him, probably because deep down I know it's a bit different.
What are your sneaky snacks that no one knows about?

Thick white bread smeared with Helmans mayonnaise and nothing else. When I was a kid I would eat sweetcorn and mayonnaise sandwiches, now I ditch the (canned) veg!

tinyterrors · 03/05/2017 20:06

I used to love walkers cheese and onion crisps dipped in melted Cadbury dairy milk before it was ruined by Craft.

Good old sugar sandwiches on hoist white bread with cheap margarine was a favourite when I was a child, along with homemade chips with sugar instead of salt.

thegoodnameshadgone · 03/05/2017 20:18

Kelsooo I love am oxo in hot water but I dip hot buttered crusty roll into it

Ireallywantapizza · 03/05/2017 20:27

I love a rice pudding sandwich. I get strange looks off dp when I eat it.

Also love cold tinned mushy peas.
Oh and dunking my fries in a McDonald's strawberry milkshake

Eminybob · 03/05/2017 20:41

I used to do the oxo drink as a child too. I think my parents had it to me as it was cheaper than a cup a soup!

I like a mug full of frozen peas, straight from the freezer. Much nicer than cooked.
I also sneak a couple of frozen chips before putting them in the oven Blush

Some of these are really grim, but there's no judging allowed here Grin

What the fuck is a sugar sandwich? Please tell me through what sort of bread and sugar? Is there butter?

Tuna and baked beans is the best, especially on a buttery salty jacket potato and covered in cheese. Mmmmm!

I also love cold tinned Heinz peppa pig or bob the builder pasta with cheese. For some reason the Hello Kitty variety is not as good.

Thank you all for indulging me this evening. I read a lot of these to DP who says we are all wrong'ns Grin

Hot buttery toast, dipped in tea .....

Ireallywantapizza · 03/05/2017 20:59

I didn't realise dipping toast in tea was gross. It's my favourite evening snack/supper.

Urglewurgle · 03/05/2017 21:23

DurhamDurham try mint sauce on your mushy peas!

I will happily just have a bowl of mushy peas as a small meal.

DP Likes all his puddings cold, he's asked for cold sticky toffee pudding and cold custard in a posh restaurant before Blush

Urglewurgle · 03/05/2017 21:24

As kids me and DSis used to make ourselves jam and squires cream butties. On mighty white bread. You had to keep eating all the cream from the edges cos it squidges out, like a vanilla slice does.

SheSaidHeSaid · 03/05/2017 21:25

My MIL puts cold beans on salad. Used to make me shiver when I went round there for dinner and she put that on my plate.

Can't imagine cold beans ever being nice now.

ymmv · 03/05/2017 21:32

marmite and ketchup on toast.

Bubblysqueak · 03/05/2017 22:04

Yet another one, baked beans with peas and a little salt and vinegar.

Mysteriouscurle · 03/05/2017 22:21

Ccold baked beans? Op YABVVVVVVVVVU Grin

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 03/05/2017 22:38

I only like cold beans from the tin if put on a plate something changes and it all seems wrong

I like warm beans with salad cream and lots of pepper but once they have cooled down they are vile

Toast with marmite and hard boiled is very nice

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 03/05/2017 22:39

Hard boiled egg ....

And I like cod in butter sauce in the bag especially after I have been poorly

AllRoadsLeadBackToRadley · 03/05/2017 22:51

Tuna and peanut butter sandwiches!

thereisnococonut · 03/05/2017 22:54

Pickled onion or beetroot if I'm feeling particularly nasty, straight from the jar, unaccompanied.

SantasTipsyHelper · 03/05/2017 23:23

Mmm polishes off buttered toast and cup of oxo.

I love sweet and savoury, especially if it's with fruit. Tried the best pizza on holiday; with cheese, tomato, oregano, sultanas, banana, pineapple and glacier cherries. Delicious! If only it was available at Pizza Express.

Rosieroundabouts · 03/05/2017 23:33

Bachelors curry flavoured super noodles in a white bread sandwich..It is heavenly. Then of course the leftover bowl or noodles.

CryptoFascist · 03/05/2017 23:35

Yy to tin of mushy peas as a stand alone meal. With ketchup and pepper.
Pease pudding is another but I don't like it as much.

Crisps dipped in soup.

Ryvita "sandwiches" with cheese filling dunked in soup.

Mince and gravy sandwiches.

Cold leftover roast potatoes, on a small plate, with ketchup or brown sauce for dunking.

theclick · 03/05/2017 23:41

I've never had them but want to now.

I usually love them hot with butter thrown in. And cheese.

LemonsAndLollies · 03/05/2017 23:46

I'm in America so I don't know if the brands will be familiar but:

-Stouffer's macaroni cheese (or mashed potatoes) with A-1 steak sauce, just a little bit.
-Grilled cheese (baby Swiss) and pickle (dill slices) sandwiches, preferably with 'hoagie spread' which is kind of like a hot-pepper relish usually used on cold Italian sandwiches
-if I just need a few bits of something crunchy, a few salad croutons from a box with a bit of salad dressing dripped on

caz323 · 03/05/2017 23:50

DairyLea cheese triangles. Just munch them on their own. What is the point of spreading?! Smile

BeeThirtythree · 04/05/2017 00:12

Dipping biscuits in Diet Coke? I thought it was normal to dunk my hobnobs in a nice cold glass of fizzy pop...according to DH it is far from normal...really?
