to lock up before he goes to bed
to switch the heating off before he goes to bed (He goes to bed hours after me and smokes outside)
not to put non stick pans in the dishwasher
etc
etc
He complains I'm a nag but some of my nags are necessary, aren't they?
How do I teach him? Been trying for 12 years

tell him if your children should die becuase of his gross incompetance at keeping his own fucking family safe you will hunt him down and kill him slowly.

re non stick pans - what gets hurt - the non stick pans? when they are fucked - tell him to buy some

you switch the heating off as you go to bed - thats solved.

mumblechum · 13/03/2007 13:12

Give up, hon. I realised years ago that you've just got to go with the flow, as otherwise you'll be seething and he'll carry on thinking everything's just dandy. Train yourself to agree that everything's dandy, and there's no problem!

MrsSpoon · 13/03/2007 13:15

LOL! They are all the same. We ruined a set of pans in the dishwasher (they were "dishwasher safe" but not "dishwasher proof", I now know the difference ). DH blamed me for putting them in the dishwasher, we got a new set of pans (replaced by the manufacturer as they had a fault so they would only send exactly the same "dishwasher safe" pans), I hadnwashed them for weeks until I went away for a weekend and came back to find DH had put them in the dishwasher and they were ruined once more. Had to use grotty looking pans for another 5 years until we finally replaced them.

bizzi · 13/03/2007 13:15

we can't afford the heating on all night
he fritters money left right up and down, I don't want to fritter more on non stick pans and the rest. I do sometimes switch it off but if he notices he turns it back on at a much higher rate and still forgets to turn it off, safer to leave it on low and hope!

I don't want an 'all the same' dh I want mr perfect!!!

shut the bedroom door when you go to bed, with a big notice on it saying "DO NOT ENTER UNLESS YOU HAVE LOCKED UP AND SWITCHED THE HEATING OFF". sorted.

can't help with the pans thing, unless you're going to go round the house sticking big notices on everything, including the kids, saying "NOT TO BE PUT IN THE DISHWASHER"

MrsSpoon · 13/03/2007 13:23

Come to think of it my DH isn't too great with the heating either, if it is too hot, he switches it all off completely, too cold and it goes on permanently, doesn't know how to work the timer or boost facility.

bizzi, get him to give up smoking and then you can afford new pans, increased heating!

MrsSpoon · 13/03/2007 13:24

The last thing I found DH trying to put in the dishwasher was a flask, he couldn't understand why it shouldn't go in.

bizzi · 13/03/2007 13:25

I like that sunnysideup, off to design a poster. Don't think manslaughter threat would bother him custy, may ignore your advice on this one if you dont mind

OP posts:
PestoMonster · 13/03/2007 13:26

Could you perhaps get one of those timer switches & set it to go on & off at certain times?

mumblechum · 13/03/2007 13:29

It could be worse - my dh knows we have a dishwasher and washing machine but has never used them.

I've avoided going on the "my dh earns a packet so thinks he doesn't have to do anything in the house" thread as I know it is too close to home and will get me out off my calm planet

sunnysideup · 13/03/2007 13:34

make sure it's in big letters and words of one syllable, bizzi

Tortington · 13/03/2007 13:39

sure i dont mind

bizzi · 13/03/2007 13:50

Done and all set for trial run later, only 2 syllable word is heating, think he'll cope?
