Big birthday party coming up and we wanted to give the DJ a list of 90's favourites to play. So.... AIBU to ask you for some 90's tunes rather than just googling (or handing him my iPod!!) please?

Love all of these!

HelenaWay · 04/05/2017 07:14

Semi-Charmed Life - Third Eye Blind

Gangsters Paradise - Coolio

Laid - James

What's up - 4 Non Blondes

ThisAintALoveSong · 04/05/2017 07:37

Best thing about this thread is how varied everyone's music taste is. I hated all the dance type music growing up in the 90s and absolutely loved rock/Brit pop. But the songs listed here, even the ones I didn't really like at the time give me an overall warm and fuzzy sense of nostalgia.

Do the Bart man as a PP said! Perfect!

GraceGrape · 04/05/2017 07:43

For a party - Chumbawumba's Tubthumping ("I get knocked down, but I get up again...")

Sit Down - James

RoseGoldProsecco · 04/05/2017 07:47

Did you ever do the chumbawumba drinking game to that song? Line them up, and every time he sings it, you have to... drink a whisky drink, a vodka drink, a lager drink, a cider drink. He says it about 17 times!

You can also drink every time he says the word "down" - about 500 times!!

Snap- rhythm is a dancer
Corona- rhythm of the night
James- laid and sit down
Green day - most songs off Nimrod and Dookie albums

ThisAintALoveSong · 04/05/2017 07:58

Rose never played this game but it sounds fun! Except I don't think I'd be able to hack it these days without putting myself in a drunken coma 😂

Huldra · 04/05/2017 08:38

As well as many of the above, I have a soft spot for:
The Sundays - Can't be Sure
Crash Test Dummies - Supermans Song
Billy Bragg - Mother of the Bride
Nick cave - The Ship Song
Sugarcubes - HIt
Pogues - Rain Street
Some of those have just made it :) most of their music was 80's.

makeourfuture · 04/05/2017 09:15

Alanis morrisette you oughta know

That's not th meaning of irony, alanis.

MajesticWhine · 04/05/2017 11:00

Buffalo stance was in the late 1980s. Sorry I'll piss off back to pedants corner.

Wormulonian · 04/05/2017 11:26

Around 1990 but will get the crowd dancing

C&C Music Factory: Gonna make you sweat (everybody dance now) and Things that make you go Hmmm...
Groove is in the heart by Dee light

from 1992 ish - The Stereo MC's - connected and step it up

FeliciaJollygoodfellow · 04/05/2017 11:35

I have practically all of these in a 90s playlist! I find as I get older I get more and more nostalgic for the music of my youth.

BitOutOfPractice · 04/05/2017 11:37

Mr Jones: Counting Crows

GetInTheFuckingSea · 04/05/2017 22:58

Thisaint I agree about feeling warm towards songs that I didn't even like that much at the time. I think it's because I was still paying attention to music so I can remember where I was when they were around.

Another one: Chaka demus & pliers - tease me. Which reminds me of being at this totally naff club and everyone in there singing the opening lines and hugging each other. And I ended up snogging the face off a cute guy from Southampton.

RoseGoldProsecco · 04/05/2017 23:03

Omg I love the counting crows now. Hated them when I was young and cool!

I bloody hated that KLF song Justified and Ancient. It was pure cheesy bollox and I could never make sense of what the hell the song was about.

Also I couldn't stand D:Ream (think that's how you spell it) Things Can Only Get Better.

ThisAintALoveSong · 04/05/2017 23:17

Stay by Shakespeare's sister was a good song if a little terrifying at the time
