To "kindly" go to them with a nappy bag?

Just walking back to my house. Dh and dd are at a relatives and walking back in 20 minutes. Young woman dashing down the road with a terrier that then stopped and took a huge pooh right on the pavement. She then spots me and does the "where are my poo bags dance" when you can tell quite categorically she is going to leave it.

I stop and search my bag for nappy sacks. Don't have one on me but my house is right there. I head back to my house and she starts walking away. Grab some nappy sack and run after her saying "here you go and here are a few extra ones just in case". She had already got a fair distance from the mess. She thanked me but you could tell that she wasn't pleased and cleaned up after the dog.

Dh not pleased with me as he said that she could see where we live and that I don't know who they are. My argument is my almost 2 year old is about to walk back down that pavement and I don't want there to be crap on it. Aibu?

Well done you! Our footpaths are a minefield of dog poo and it drives me mad.

Sirzy · 01/05/2017 18:47

Fantastic! Good on you.

GlitteryFluff · 01/05/2017 18:48

Good on you!

glitterglitters · 01/05/2017 18:49

Lol thanks! I was expecting a barrage of being a nosey twat 😂

You are completely not being unreasonable. What does your husband think the dog owner will do?
I bloody hate people who don't pick up.

glitterglitters · 01/05/2017 18:50

Lol @Wolfiefan Dh is convinced that people will assume we're interfering and then target our house for whatever reason. I think he's being somewhat paranoid. Big on the old "didn't see nothing, didn't hear nothing" mentality.

MyheartbelongstoG · 01/05/2017 18:50

Well done op!

Gallavich · 01/05/2017 18:50

You were right and your husband is a pathetic man baby for thinking some woman will wreak revenge on your house for making her pick up her dog's poo.

Asmoto · 01/05/2017 18:51

Good for you. I was caught out once when my dog decided to do four poos on his walk, and had to improvise with some crisp packets that had been littered nearby - I would have welcomed an angel with a nappy sack!

sooperdooper · 01/05/2017 18:52

Well done you, people who don't pick up after their dogs are disgusting

Phalarope · 01/05/2017 18:52

Excellent work. I bet if you go round the corner, though, she'll have just dropped the bag.

glitterglitters · 01/05/2017 18:53

Lol @Asmoto I'm paranoid about things like that. As a lifelong dog owner all my coats rustle as he pockets are filled with nappy sacks and plastic bags (though not so much since the 5p tax) in case of code browns with my dog. Grin

DramaAlpaca · 01/05/2017 18:53

Oh well done!

glitterglitters · 01/05/2017 18:53

@Phalarope probably. No excuse either as there are about 3 poo bins within swinging distance of our road Angry

milliemolliemou · 01/05/2017 18:54

Go you! What on earth does your DH think the offender will do - apart from remember not to walk down your street without poo bags in future? or avoid it entirely?

Hurrah!

Rumtopf · 01/05/2017 18:56

Good for you!

I've been known to stop the car, wind down the window waving a poo bag and "Cooeee" at people when they walk away without picking up. I have two dogs, all my coats and bags have pockets stuffed with spare bags.

Wando1986 · 01/05/2017 18:57

I chase after people in the park. May also be known for throwing it at them if they still don't pick it up Grin

chipmonkey · 01/05/2017 18:58

My friend has done this and then cheerfully stood over the dog owner in question while she cleaned it up. Good for you!

Wolfiefan · 01/05/2017 18:58

I'm a dog owner. I have a dog walking bag with a poo bag dispenser. I take a spare roll of poo bags in case I run out. And some nappy sacks too.
And then I worry I should carry a bottle of water to wash away any residue.
I may be overly prepared. BUT she's a wolfhound and nobody deserves to be caught out and step in that (not that everyone shouldn't pick up. Of course they should!)

glitterglitters · 01/05/2017 18:58

Grin @Wando1986 that's awesome hahaha!

Well done Op Grin

CruCru · 01/05/2017 19:00

There is an App that you can use to report dog poo / litter / graffiti anywhere in the UK. A report gets sent to the council who (should) send someone to clean it up.

It's a bit off topic but I use it six or seven times a day.

glitterglitters · 01/05/2017 19:04

@CruCru downloaded! We've had a few "presents" left outside our gate in the past which is irritating because a) it's an offence, b) I get worried my neighbours thing I let my dog do it and c) I don't want to pick it up!

We're right by a big open field and some woods so we get a lot of dog walkers parking up round our area and bringing Fido for a stroll. They are meant to do fines and if you grass up report people you can get discount on your council tax. But that's a bit much even for me.

Wouldn't it be lovely if God invented a pet that didn't poo? Wink

Citizenoftheuniverse · 01/05/2017 19:07

Well done OP, as a dog owner I am fed up with other dog walkers who do this.
