One pillow or two?

KellysZeros · 01/05/2017 10:14

I always sleep in our bed with two pillows, one stacked on the other. DH complains, as he lies on his one pillow, that it is like looking up at a mountain.

But surely, two pillows is correct, isn't it? Why do hotels always give two pillows if you're meant to discard one?

3 for me, 3 for dp

StarryIllusion · 01/05/2017 12:03

3 if they are quite thin, 2 if puffy. I can't sleep flat on one pillow.

MrTumblesbitch · 01/05/2017 12:07

6..... I sleep with 1 under my head and the rest around me shoved under various arms and legs. You know when a dog gets its basket ready and kicks and noses the blanket for ages till it's just so. That's me Grin

MaidOfStars · 01/05/2017 12:09

I have three pillows and a cushion. I really only sleep on one - a big feather one that I hug lengthways. The other things tend to act as bumpers against various walls/bedside bookcase/ husband /etc. Occasionally, I'll put one between my knees.

Fortnum · 01/05/2017 12:10

3 alll quite firm. I have a major issue with hoels that supply fluffy pillows they offer zero support and are quite frankly pointless ! I travel a lot so this is a constant in my life ! Some hotels actually have differebt types but its always a pain ! Also whats the point in stupidly large oversize pillows in hotels ? A nice normal rectangular one is the perfect size ! We have x2 firm pillows from Dunelm and 1 each we bought in dreams which are latex ! (With pillow covers) firm and thick and lovely they were £100 each though !

Freyanna · 01/05/2017 12:27

One large cushion and 2 pillows for reading in bed, one for sleeping.

cosytoaster · 01/05/2017 12:30

2 slim firm ones

lottiegarbanzo · 01/05/2017 12:36

One. Best for my neck and back. I've tried two, with the idea that it ought to be more comfortable - it isn't, it bends my neck.

I think the extra ones in hotels and on other 'dressed' beds are for propping you up when sitting and whatever else you might want to do, or prop up, with spare pillows.

BadToTheBone · 01/05/2017 12:42

Two to read, one to sleep.

ChocChocPorridge · 01/05/2017 12:43

none if on my back, 1 firm one if side or front. Sometimes have a thin second one hanging around for hugging or putting over my eyes in the morning.

TheNaze73 · 01/05/2017 12:55

Double pillow = double chin.

Trifleorbust · 01/05/2017 13:15

One. I can't sleep with my head at a steep angle.

AlpacaPicnic · 01/05/2017 13:24

One puffy one, then a thin, firm one on top. It's taken me ages to get the perfect combo.
And a giant panda pillow for hugging...

Ethylred · 01/05/2017 13:44

I like to have lots and then throw them on the floor.

Because that is what the floor is for.

seven201 · 01/05/2017 16:41

2 for when reading then one gets chucked on the floor for sleep.

JustPoppingBy · 01/05/2017 16:58

3 for reading, 2 for sleeping,
puffy one on the bottom for support, fluffy cloud feather one on top for squishy softness.

carjacker1985 · 01/05/2017 16:59

One is better for your spine- although I grew up using 2, it's not till I met DH that I changed to 1. I used 2 for reading.

KellysZeros · 01/05/2017 17:01

So much variation. I guess it depends on the thickness, but it ends up becoming something very personal

Two thin pillows or one thick one.

eurochick · 01/05/2017 17:03

I've always slept with two. I just had physio for neck and shoulder pain and was told to stick with one, for alignment, so I'm doing that now.

kel1493 · 01/05/2017 17:10

2 for me. Dh has a load as he says it helps him sleep better

SomewhatIdiosyncratic · 01/05/2017 17:25

One thick firm pillow.

I hate it if I'm in a hotel and end up with a silly pouffey one that swells up around your face but offers no support. Utterly pointless.

robincooper · 04/10/2019 15:51

I some hotels you can take them for extra money

easyandy101 · 04/10/2019 15:56

0 pillows

Sleep on my front with my head on my arms

Confrontayshunme · 04/10/2019 16:40

My DH insists on two dead flat pillows, whereas I replace my memory foam one every few years. If it doesn't support my giant head, I don't sleep on it. I carry my own pillow on holiday and to hotels too.
