To want banks and fraud squad to take the bogus bank emails seriously?

I have had lots from egg online, Halifax and now HSBC asking me to update my accounts, fictitious accounts that I do not have. But I can well imagine someone who does have an account to fall for this scam as the email and subsequent webpage you are directed to look very professional and above board.

It irritates me to think that some poor sod is going to be milked over these bogus emails and no-one seems to be taking them at all seriously! I contacted the banks and the anti-phishing dept of the police but no-one got back to me.

Or is it one of those things that happens all the time and after the initial indignance of everyone, these scams are soon forgotten and the victims seen as stupid gits that probably deserve to get fleeced?

sorry, bit of a rant but the bloody ineptness and indifference of the police to crime really gets my goat.

I have worked for a Bank for yesrs. They have their own fraud squads & continually monitor these. If every customer who received one phoned them you would never get through. We only put customers through who HAD clicked on the links. They put large warnings on their own websites & mail inserts etc. Believe me, they DO take it seriously.
