He raped a 5 year old for fucks sake, I'll never understand the sentencing for sex crimes, that girl's life is ruined, and do they really think he won't reoffend?

user I think all prisoners should be earning money through manufacturing etc. This is one of my gripes with the system.

You have a very naiive view.

Any " work" scheme in prison while valuable from an occupational perspective would be unlikely to be profitable. They would cost far more to administer, and supervise than become a positively fiscal cost centre.

Andrewofgg · 30/04/2017 08:14

In any event prison work undercuts the work of non-criminal workers in the community.

Skerry No I don't. Why should prisoners who are able not be expected to contribute financially to society (seeing as they aren't able to contribute by actually participating in society due to their behaviour)?

Why should prisoners who are able not be expected to contribute financially to society

Because in reality it wouldn't be an overall financial contribution.

The likelihood is that it would cost more to administer than profit gained.

His sentence won't be the end of his sentence though. He will have to let future employers know, hand over his devices periodically to see what he's been up to online, he won't be able to have care of a child unless he has written permission from their parents. It's not a perfect system, but in 13 years they don't just let him out with no safeguards in place.

badabing36 He will serve six and a half inside and the rest on license. What restrictions he is under will depend on probation but he will have to notify his whereabouts for ever. Some disappear off the radar and outside a serious police state some always will.

There's a bit of me which says Chop it off and another which says Hand him over to the general population of HMP and see if they will reduce his sentence to time served and discharge him feet first but both bits are wrong.

There is no bit of me which says Execution with or without trial. This is not China or Alabama.
