AIBU to be annoyed: JoJo wellies last 3 weeks. Shop says they're not supposed to last...

Bought a £18 pair of JoJoMamanBebe wellies 3 weeks ago. By last weekend the sides had split on both boots (about 5cm long split) and water and sand were pouring into DS (3)'s wellies.

Previous JoJo wellies have outlasted 2 kids so I assumed this was a freak occurrence/materials issue. Returned them today, no receipt, shop lovely about exchanging them no problem - but then went on to admit there've been a number of similar returns and Head Office says they're "fashion boots" and not meant to be used seriously. If you want proper wellies you have to go to an outdoor shop apparently!

Given previous models lasted years, the price, and the fact that kids' wellies are going to get a hard time and should be designed for such use, AIBU to be shocked by Head Office's attitude? He's had them 3 weeks, but he's only worn them a few days within that... so basically I've bought £18 disposable wellies.

A warning: If your kids actually want to wear their wellies, you might want to avoid JoJo in future.

I spent £8 on my dds wellies, they lasted until she grew out of them and were Debenhams own brand.

Yes, definitely avoid Hunter. I managed to get an old pair a few years back when they went bust. Brilliant and hard wearing. Someone bought me another pair a couple of years ago and they are not a patch on the old ones

Jojo have been especially shit recently. I had two newborn babygrows for DS2 from there and the seams came loose on both at the feet after one wear!

Sigh. So DDs second pair of blue dinosaur wellies now has splits each side of the heel arch bit. Was going to try marks and spencers wellies but they are out of stock in her size.

So bloody annoying. Its not just the cost its the hassle of having to find replacements.

Crocs wellies are expensive but fab, had mine 10+ years and the kids boots have never split. Fab as snow boots too. Usually get them on an offer so don't pay full price.

Hunters are not shit. I have a pair, would never spend that kind of money myself on willies, and I admit when they were given to me as a gift, I too internally poo pooed them. Thought it was all name nonsense. WELL.... they are actually bloody brilliant, have been going for 5+ years, and are like walking on air.

I've had the exact same problem with JoJo wellies. Only worn a handful of times before splitting along the seam. Couldn't return though as they were worn a couple of times then shelved for 2 months before being worn again (and splitting).

Crocs wellies and Aigle wellies (bought for cheap as chips in John Lewis sales I might add) have been brilliant. Clarks have gone through on the soles and leaked.

The wellies I bought have been replaced twice due to splitting quite quickly after buying. I was told by the shop that although some customers in the area where I live had also experienced the same problem, the company felt that this was not a nationwide problem and suggested the problem might be that my child’s feet do not suit their welly design! At that price surely they should be more robust?
