to think couples wearing matching outfits is a bit odd

Just that really, having driven through town today and been struck by the number of mainly middle-aged couples wearing matching jackets and in some cases matching trousers too. DH has the fashion sense of a colour-blind mosquito, hates clothes shopping and doesn't give a fuck what he looks like, but even he resorts to stealing old clothes from his brother and BIL rather than asking me to pick up two of whatever I'm buying for myself.

DP and I used to have the same pair of trainers, we were going to a friends gig one evening and got ready separately, met each other wearing said trainers, black jeans and stripes tops. We did get a few funny looks on the tube as people scanned our outfits and realised that we were identically dressed, it was really quite funny to us at least.

I also got matching cashmere jumpers for DP, DD and I for Christmas so we all matched in beigey pink softness. I wouldn't do it all the time but it is funny looking back at pictures where we match.

Lots of couples end up having similar taste in clothes so I think it happens quite often, maybe not an exact matching outfit but you do see pairs of punks or goths or sneaker heads who look very similar to one another in terms of dress and style.

I find it even more fascinating how many older people start wearing head to toe beige when they get past a certain age!

Why?

My first thought was Howard and hilda! But I love the Korean honeymoon couples. Very cute.

When I used to take my baby dd swimming there was a mum who wore matching costume to her baby girl. I thought it was sweet! It was navy and white striped though, not Peppa Pig!

When DD was in junior school there was a whole family like this. Mum and Dad looked identical and could have passed for brother and sister. They always wore the same trousers, same coat etc. Even had the same wild hairstyle and matching glasses.
Their son was a clone of the two. Saw them all out of school once and even son was dressed the same as the parents. It was all a bit odd.

I do this regularly with my DP, completely by accident! I always leave the house when he is still asleep because he starts later than me so he rarely sees me to take note of what I'm wearing.

You can almost guarantee if we've planned to go out for food after work we will have both picked the maroon jumpers/maroon shirts we both had a lot of maroon clothes before we met that day, I bet we look so sad! Makes sense though because we do our washing together so the same colours get done at the same time..

I like that some people think it's sweet because I won't feel so foolish next time :')
