In thinking 30 free hours won't be available to the majority of us

My ds aged 3 is in private nursery, I've asked the nursey manager and they have no information on how this may be implemented at present.
I have spoken to the council the nursery is in anc they say they are waiting for central government guidance.
I spoke to my council (neighbouring town) and asked for a list of nurseries who have confirmed they will participate and they say that doesn't exist and i would have to call nurseries myself to enquire.
It's supposed to begin in Sept and it seems nothing is in place. I have completed an online eligibility via government website and have an eligibility code, which according to the website I now simply present at childcare provider of my choice (!!!) I don't think a school nursery would work for us hours wise if it does turn out to be a school/private nursery divide, anyway I have missed applications for that as I thought he'd stay in private nursery.
What are peoples experience of this?

Btw as your MP earns more the 100k he would not be eligible

My son's private day nursery will not be offering the 30 hours free, they've said that they will continue to offer the 15 hours that they currently do. It doesn't really affect us as ds will be starting reception in September anyway. I really can't see how the 30 hours will be workable for the majority of businesses.

"Btw as your MP earns more the 100k he would not be eligible"

I think you're right - haven't looked at who is eligible because I'm not offering it (can't afford to).
Though I think his earnings probably aren't keeping him awake like most of the people who believed his Government's promise of 30 hours free childcare.

Just to update ( have changed username but am the op) I got a call today saying my nursery is implementing this scheme in Sept. Fees still to be advised, but I am so delighted! Even though it's only term time it's got to half my cost right?

Our private nursery is offering the 30 hours free. However we don't qualify. The nursery has increased their fees across the board and also increased the minimum number of sessions for preschoolers to offset the expense of the 30 hours. As a result my bill (for 1 child, 3 days a week) will be £1400/year more expensive than it was in September. I feel like I'm paying for the supposedly government funded scheme. Pretty pissed off with the whole thing to be honest.

Onetedisbackinbed · 06/06/2017 14:41

That's a big increase and obviously wasn't the funding intention of the scheme. We've had our annual fee increase statement and it hasn't gone up that much. Can I ask, do you not qualify due to working hours or salary? Could you increase your hours if it's that?

Onetedisbackinbed · 06/06/2017 14:49

Just calculated my annual fee increase was £540, for 3 days a week. Maybe a bit more than usual...

3boys3dogshelp · 06/06/2017 15:56

We don't qualify because of DH's earnings - doesn't take into account his crazy hours (60-70hrs week) or the fact that to earn what he does we have huge debts significantly bigger than our mortgage. He actually takes home now (after loan repayments) less than when he was on £50k. 2 parents each warming £50k would be much much better off than us. I know we are still lucky that we have a comfortable income and I don't object to the government not funding us. I do object to the government saying it offers 30hours to working parents but not funding it properly, and to the nursery using us to pay for it.

3boys3dogshelp · 06/06/2017 15:58

I work 3-4 days a week.

Of course they won't. They are struggling with the 15 hours in lots of places
