...to want to go to sleep in the dark?

This is beginning to driving a wedge between myself and my dp. He insists when he stays that he has the television on sleep timer so he can drift off with it on. After a long day, I like to be in darkness without any sounds or flashing lights. He is making me feel like I am not normal. I am, aren't I? I end up going into the tv-less spare room. If I am on my own, I put the TV on in the morning to listen to music and this livens me up and makes me happy as I put my makeup on and dry my hair. If dp is here, it's 'Good Morning Britain'. Hmm

YANBU that's really no good for you...to sleep with the TV on. does he have the sound on too!? It's very selfish.

In your shoes I would be moving into the spare room or telling HIM to.

Eye mask??

SuperBeagle · 25/04/2017 02:42

Yep. I can't stand light or sound when I'm trying to sleep.

Tell him to go back to his own house if he wants to dictate how things should be.

I read this yesterday. Now i am confused

BuckinghamLass · 25/04/2017 02:44

I could not deal with this. I am a very light sleeper and this would disturb my sleep patterns.

We're bombarded by sound and screens all day, sleep time is sacrosanct!

This is why I refuse to have a TV in the bedroom. Never have. Never will. If DP wants to watch something he either stays in the living room or does so with the iPad and earphones plugged in well away from me.

This! No need for a TV in the bedroom. I go to bed because I want to sleep, not because I want to continue watching TV.

I agree no tv in the bedroom, radio or CD player in the morning.

Although ... dh wears an eye mask and I have tv with subtitles.

My dh is like this, solved by me wearing ear plugs and an eye mask, the bonus being he has to get up for the dc if need be!
