To hate what is happening (sorry its an election one)

I hate what is happening to my country. I am British and pr...... well actually not so much these days. I was proud to be part of a diverse country that embraced what "others" could bring in terms of economic and cultural gain. That we were a respected nation that made a difference in the global stage. But now we have become that selfish little brat in the playground, with the nice sweets they don't want to share. No one wants to play with that child anymore, the other kids realise that they are really not all that and quite frankly a little bit pathetic.

I was proud to be British and part of something bigger (Europe) and it made me feel safe.

Now i don't feel safe - i know there are other things at play here.

We are being dictated to by an UNELECTED (oh the irony) harridan who knows full fucking well that she is the only one who can negotiate the shit storm that is Brexit at this stage. Giving the country hobson's choice .

People will forget that she will decimate our schools and create an even more exclusive (not in a good way) society where the less able, less privalidged and ordinary people will be an after thought. Those on benefits will have no voice - look what they have done to disabled people with their fucking benefits cap (the cunts).

Local authorities are scrimping and it shows, so why has my council tax just gone up £50 a month and the services provided being slashed? Hmm

Do you know what i hate more - that this elitism is like a cancer. It spreads, insidiously even throughout the very people that May and her cronies wouldn't piss on if they were on fire.

People who i work with seem unanimous in their hero worship of this "strong leader" . Well yes she is a strong leader but that does not mean she is a good leader.

Tuition fees
grammar schools
immigration cap
selling off the nhs via the back door
benefits cap
raised taxes for all whilst protecting their own with tax avoidance schemes.

WAKE THE FUCK UP !!

sorry, rant over, i know very little about politics but i know that im worried for the future.

The wonder of Gordons magic money tree.

Or alternatively a sign of the increased inequality that Gordon Brown was trying to address. A higher minimum wage may have been a better alternative but there was a lot of scaremongering about the devastating effect having any minimum wage at all would cause so the Labour government was perhaps over cautious there.

Sugarcoma · 23/04/2017 09:38

You sound slightly unhinged OP. And FWIW we will still be part of Europe, just not part of the EU.

Oh, and Labour brought in tuition fees and began the process to privatize NHS and schools (I suggest you google Blair's PFI initiative) so not sure why you're lumping that at May's door.

sonlypuppyfat · 23/04/2017 09:39

I do think all our problems are caused by immigrants, there are the ones we need yes, but I don't know where you live but I can't see the benefits of thousands of car washers

Livelovebehappy · 23/04/2017 09:39

And Theresa May might not be elected, but that's something which will hopefully no longer be an issue following the election. TBH, Corbyn is unelected as the Labour leader, bearing in mind most of the labour electorate don't even want him in that position.

TheoriginalLEM · 23/04/2017 09:41

Well my bosses are immigrants and contribute a vast amount of tax, provide job's across the pay scale to people both immigrant and local.

OP posts:
fuckwitery · 23/04/2017 09:41

Yawn. Poorly thought out, barely researched diatribe OP. You admit you know very little about politics then rant on and on. And as PP stated half of your list of woes were in fact started by your beloved Labour Party.

The fact you like JC says it all.

If you want to spout off in public do have the grace to do some research next time. There's a dear.

TheoriginalLEM · 23/04/2017 09:42

Good - unhinged was my aim!

OP posts:
Devorak · 23/04/2017 09:42

"Divide and conquer."

If you say so.

"I can't believe there are working class tories."

Oh, looks like it has worked and you're the bigot.

@TheoriginalLEM

Tuition fees

Bless you. They were introduced in 1998 by the Labour government.

grammar schools

Fantastic for those who can't afford independent schools yet are brighter or more academically able than average.

immigration cap

Are you against this?

selling off the nhs via the back door

"[Corbyn] said the NHS is now paying the price for New Labour having been “cowed by the press, and duped by the money men” when it used private finance for building health projects. “Labour has a duty to remove the PFI burden from the NHS – this really was our mess, and we have to clear it up,” Corbyn said."

Labour fucked up, even according to Corby. What he's saying now is, we weren't clever enough to not be duped by money men but now we are and should be put in power to unfuck the situation. Wow! Gets my vote.

benefits cap

Yes. Blairite Labour created an unsustainable society where living a state-sponsored lifestyle was not only acceptable but desirable. A cap is necessary unless we want to go the way of Greece. Remember that we were like Greece due to this and Thatcher's austerity saved the country going bankrupt and enabled the economy to flourish (until Labour got in control of it again and there "new economic paradigm")

raised taxes for all whilst protecting their own with tax avoidance schemes.

Increased taxes are necessary when you have a debt burden the size of ours - created by Brown's reckless spending, remember.

So, out of those points, Labour created the environment for them to be necessary directly did it. The fact your first complaint was introduced by Labour suggests the depressing thing isn't the state of the country but that you believe complete untruths and that everything bad must be Tory.

Imbroglio · 23/04/2017 09:42

You sound slightly unhinged OP.

Uncalled for.

TheoriginalLEM · 23/04/2017 09:43

Yes absolutely no research whatsover - just a personal rant about my perception of what is happening around me

OP posts:
Pinkandwhiteblossoms · 23/04/2017 09:44

I think this is the thing, LEM - my DH works for the NHS and there are many immigrants working for them and obviously they make a great contribution.

But, opening the door and letting millions through in the knowledge there will be a handful of people like your boss, doctors, nurses - just hasn't really worked.

TheoriginalLEM · 23/04/2017 09:46

I live in a grammar school area and its a joke. The children who pass the 11 plus are tutored by expensive tutors so its just another tier to an unfair system.

I will continue in my unhinged, unresearched little rant, feel free to ignore

OP posts:
Livelovebehappy · 23/04/2017 09:47

OP, Your bosses are the type of immigrants we would welcome and want in the U.K. Someone who can contribute financially, and also contributing to jobs. That's the point I'm making. It's not necessarily about completely stopping immigration, but using a points system similar to Canada and Australia. It's about stopping people coming in with no job, no skills, no qualifications, who are just going to become a burden to the already overstretched services.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 23/04/2017 09:47

I don't agree with most of what you say OP.

So there we have it. In a democracy people with differing options are able to vote despite the fact you'd rather those with an opposite view to you couldn't/shouldn't.

TheoriginalLEM · 23/04/2017 09:48

But pink i agree with you! Really i do - but to put a cap on immigration surely is as crazy as allowing uncontrolled immigration.

OP posts:
TheoriginalLEM · 23/04/2017 09:49

Throughthickandthin - thats great too. Would you like a cola cube?

And sadly you have a vote. A little research would do you some good. You're opposed to so many Labour policies and creations that I assume you are going to vote for the Conservatives?

TheoriginalLEM · 23/04/2017 09:50

I also suspect that majority disagree with me too - fine. I am allowed to be scared.

OP posts:
Pinkandwhiteblossoms · 23/04/2017 09:50

I think the cap wouldn't have come about if it hadn't been for having over a decade of uncontrolled immigration.

KellyBoo000 · 23/04/2017 09:51

but to put a cap on immigration surely is as crazy as allowing uncontrolled immigration

Hmm you either control it or you don't. Uncontrolled immigration has not worked.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 23/04/2017 09:52

No, I'll have a lollipop if you've got one going 😀🍡

TheoriginalLEM · 23/04/2017 09:52

Yes i have a vote and im not afraid to use it! it just wont make any difference so you can relax and not worry your head about all of us ignorant oiks making a difference

This is what the Remainers say about those who voted for Brexit. And it's not said as a compliment. You can't have it both ways.

TheoriginalLEM · 23/04/2017 09:54

I don't have any lollipops in afraid. Have some Cake

OP posts:
Larslarslars · 23/04/2017 09:54

Completely agree OP. Brexit is the wrong path for this country and I fear for my children's future. The fact that May was a remainer makes her a hypocrite and the Tories are going to have dismantled the NHS and the education system by the time they're done. I want to be more optimistic about the future but it's very difficult at the moment to see how this can end well.
