Nursery commute

My 2 year old has been in the same nursery for 18 months. My ex is moving in with his new partner which will mean over an hours commute for nursery which I feel is unreasonable. We don't have a formal agreement for custody but I want to suggest alternate weekends with this commute.

Please can I ask your thoughts?

What are your current arrangements? Do you share care 50:50?

I don't think you can lay down the law here... an hour does seem a lot though.

Can you imagine only seeing your child alternate weekends? If not you can't impose that on your ex.

Anything stopping your ex sending your dc to a different nursery in his days, closer to his home?

Honestly I have parents who do this at work, you have to do what you have to do. We also have some children who come part of the week and are enrolled in another provider the other part due to their parents being separated. Kids adapt and it works for their families l.

This seems like a good suggestion but how would it work when at school. He has another child at school in the town next to mine.

It would change when she's at school - if you have 50:50 care you'll need to do scissors who she goes to school nearest. Whoever that is, the other parent will have a long school run.

Discuss, not do scissors Hmm

halobean · 19/04/2017 20:08

I thought you were suggesting rock, paper, scissors for a moment limon!!!

Look at it again when sthey become school age as there is nothing to say you will still live where you are, same with the father as well. Though you could consider one half way between as well depending on zoning etc as I know it works differently in the U.K.

Seems as good a method as any halobean GrinBlush

i'd go with daycare near his fir his half of week and visa versa. Worry about school nearer the time
