*Trigger Warning* AIBU to not understand how this YouTuber isn't being investigated for child abuse?

So I actually found out about this channel via another large forum I post on. Essentially, a YouTube channel which is called DaddyOFive (it's reasonably large, around three quarters of a million subscribers) centres around a blog made by the father, with 5 children. The upshot of it is, people were angry about how the family, lead by the father; bully one of their children Cody, and pass it off as just 'good old fashioned parenting!'

At first until I checked out the videos I honestly thought it couldn't be that bad. I was horribly wrong. Some of the videos are entitled:
Dad burns Cody's Pokemon cards
Dad destroys son's DS
Dad forces son to throw away his toys
I'm sending Cody to military school

In their most recent video, because Cody had been bad (smeared poop on the walls; a recognised sign of abuse and distress), they took all the other kids to DisneyLand.

These videos are horrific, and despite them being located in the US, I really feel like CPS should be investigating and YouTube should shut the channel down for child abuse.

If you can bear to watch the videos, the guy's name is DaddyOFive, and I'd urge you to take a few minutes and report their videos for child abuse. I really don't understand how in this day and age, this kind of thing isn't investigated more quickly. The child is sobbing, and regularly in horrendous distress at the bullying at the hands of his parents and siblings, so these videos could trigger people; that's why I haven't directly linked them and why I've placed a warning on the top of my post.

Absolute hell this child is stuck in.

When I was a child my mother used to regularly tell me SS were coming to get me and take me away. One time she even made me pack my bags and walk to the end of the garden path with the bags (as the SSs car was waiting for me) before shouting me back and chastising me further for making her do that to me.

I'm still in therapy in my 40s. That poor child needs removing from that situation, the damage has already been done.

And if we can link and share the DeFranco video as others have said, it will help without putting money in their pockets.

roverrange · 18/04/2017 21:42

For the first time ever I'm glad the daily mail have picked this up.

Yes Iv read 'a boy called it' absolutely harrowing!

MaryPoppinsPenguins · 18/04/2017 21:46

I can't see it in the daily mail?

WeDoNotSow · 18/04/2017 21:46

This is heartbreaking.
Its bad enough that it's even happening, but I just cannot fathom the subscribers.
Who goes out of their way to watch/like something like that? Why kind of person does that make you?!? Sad

BastardBloodAndSand · 18/04/2017 21:48

Not wanting to generalise but it seems to be a big thing in the states.......spare the rod and spoil the child type attitudes. One can only wonder if there's a link between ritual, child humiliation and the fucked up issues with violence they have over there

BenLinusatemyhomework · 18/04/2017 21:49

Have watched DeFranco's video - horrendous, those poor children (especially Cody, although being the "poison chalice" in the family often looks like the worst situation for a child, the psychological trauma for ALL the children is immense - no child gets away untainted by this shit and it has life long consequences).

Have signed the petition and will report the channel. Whilst I hold little hope of the parents seeing the error of their ways without intervention, this cannot publically be condoned by the rest of us and those videos MUST be challenged. It's scary that people find them entertaining.

ilovechoc1987 · 18/04/2017 21:49

I just saw this on his twitter, he posted it 16 hours ago

Mary it was linked earlier in the thread:

www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-4421852/DaddyOFive-defends-harsh-ink-prank-video-son-Cody.html

Although I haven't read it myself, I have read other articles and seen a clip of a video where they reply to their critics with a video entitled 'block the haters'. So I think we can determine from that, they don't give a fuck.

ilove and the comments in his twitter are so forgiving! It's outrageous! I mean, you can abuse and beat your child and say 'sorry' and it's all okay?!

PollytheDolly · 18/04/2017 21:52

I believe every word he has posted Hmm
It's too late. He can shove his pathetic excuse up his abusive arse.

SuperBeagle · 18/04/2017 21:53

SacconeJolys have been investigated after reports of neglect/abuse.

I know it's terrible!.
I think another poster was right when they said it's an American culture thing.
I just can't believe that they don't see it as child abuse?!?

SparkleSoiree · 18/04/2017 21:54

Thank you milkmilklemonade and Jess.

Nearly 40 years later and it's still there but I'm developing my self esteem now and as a result all sorts of cracks have started to appear within my family relationships. Each time I develop a little more courage the cracks get deeper and I will continue until those people are out of my life for good. 👍

CheshireChat · 18/04/2017 21:59

I doubt Americans in general don't find the treatment of this poor kid abusive, it's just some arseholes in particular.

Wth was YouTube doing not taking down their channel altogether?!

ilovechoc1987 · 18/04/2017 22:00

So what's with sacconejolys then?
I went to their channel and haven't watched videos yet, but all looks innocent from the thumbnails??

milkmilklemonade12 · 18/04/2017 22:02

ilove from what I gathered from the first page; it was something about how they put their baby to sleep (on her front?) possibly something and nothing, I don't know!

I just wish some bigger youtubers would condemn these people, that would raise awareness of it.
