*Trigger Warning* AIBU to not understand how this YouTuber isn't being investigated for child abuse?

So I actually found out about this channel via another large forum I post on. Essentially, a YouTube channel which is called DaddyOFive (it's reasonably large, around three quarters of a million subscribers) centres around a blog made by the father, with 5 children. The upshot of it is, people were angry about how the family, lead by the father; bully one of their children Cody, and pass it off as just 'good old fashioned parenting!'

At first until I checked out the videos I honestly thought it couldn't be that bad. I was horribly wrong. Some of the videos are entitled:
Dad burns Cody's Pokemon cards
Dad destroys son's DS
Dad forces son to throw away his toys
I'm sending Cody to military school

In their most recent video, because Cody had been bad (smeared poop on the walls; a recognised sign of abuse and distress), they took all the other kids to DisneyLand.

These videos are horrific, and despite them being located in the US, I really feel like CPS should be investigating and YouTube should shut the channel down for child abuse.

If you can bear to watch the videos, the guy's name is DaddyOFive, and I'd urge you to take a few minutes and report their videos for child abuse. I really don't understand how in this day and age, this kind of thing isn't investigated more quickly. The child is sobbing, and regularly in horrendous distress at the bullying at the hands of his parents and siblings, so these videos could trigger people; that's why I haven't directly linked them and why I've placed a warning on the top of my post.

I thought Mike was the father but she's not the mother but step mother, that's how it sounded to me

Darbs76 · 19/04/2017 12:46

Cody and Emma belong to the dad, the other 3 are mums children - that's what it sounded like to me

Elendon · 19/04/2017 12:49

The father is the abusive one. He has not been called fat and disgusting either on this thread, unlike his partner. I'm wondering if she was blonde and thin would people think of her differently?

Most importantly though is the abuse of the little boy. I won't name because adults get off on this.

We all know that adults pose as teenagers. We all know that adults get sexual gratification from watching abuse and abusing. The fact that hugs were asked for, and demanded, after the 'prank' was revealed, is a clear sign of sexual abuse.

Darbs76 · 19/04/2017 12:51

These videos aren't all fake. Cody's reaction in the ink video and many more are not fake. I watched some more videos last night, one called Cody is bad or similar. It's nearly 30mins of Cody being shouted at, pushed, ridiculed. It's actually sickening. It's not a prank video just an 'every day life'. The family know they are in danger of kids being taken, but more they are scared of loosing their YouTube fame. It's sickening. They aren't even sorry for what they've done to Cody. It's ok it's all fake. Well if that's true that child needs an Oscar. In the video (most recent parents defending thmeselves) the step mum says Cody is going to be an actor!! Sorry but no way is that invisible ink prank acted - no way. Do they think we are stupid?

Elendon · 19/04/2017 12:51

Adults pose as teenagers online.

LorLorr2 · 19/04/2017 12:52

The Invisible Ink prank was hard to watch. The way the mum yells is scary to me now, so I can't imagine how horrible it was for a little boyAngry

LorLorr2 · 19/04/2017 12:53

Oh yeah and then that 'blocking all the haters' vid where the mother blames the VIEWERS for causing trouble to their kids! The bloody cheek

FabulouslyGlamorousFerret · 19/04/2017 12:56

Gosh, they really are truly awful aren't they. The dad must have said 'sorry' 100 times in that video and not one of them had any sincerity. The tragic thing is what will happen to Cody if/when he is taken away, he will be totally fucked up which will manifest in difficult behaviour which is going to be hard for anyone to cope with, poor little thing has been destroyed by those rotten, rotten people.

Elendon · 19/04/2017 12:57

I think this young boy is being sexually abused and his sister probably is also. I also think that at least one of the older children knows this.

He is clearly being physically and emotionally abused. Prank? No. It's obviously deliberate.

RitaMills · 19/04/2017 13:04

The father is the abusive one. He has not been called fat and disgusting either on this thread

Yes he has, I've called them both disgusting. Dad might be the more physically abusive one but mum is laying it on with the emotional abuse, both as bad as each other and both causing harm and distress to this poor boy.

The Daily Bumps aren't all that great either - they favour their four year old who can barely speak and hasn't been taught his letters and numbers etc and gets showered with toys whilst the baby is often forced to nap all the time and gets somewhat ignored. Both boys have heart conditions (?) that aren't properly looked at and they only mention their miscarriages when they want money and pity. Just to name a few.

But compared to this scum of the earth, the likes of Daily Bumps, E+J and the SJs are perfect parents. I can't believe their poor kids hasn't been placed elsewhere yet. I hope their entire YouTube career crashes and burns and those horrible parents are left with nothing. But I fear this will all be overlooked.

HalfShellHero · 19/04/2017 13:17

Oh really i hadn't had that impression ive heard ollie talk , but they do have a strangely immaculate house they probably have a cleaner and I often wonder how straight bryan is haha, I think they generally focused on day trips and fun stuff! I suppose noone of them are perfect but they seem decent enough people.

HalfShellHero · 19/04/2017 13:18

I didn't know they have heart conditions how are viewers aware they don't get looked at properly? I'd have thought with all their money etc...

Elendon · 19/04/2017 13:24

Dad might be the more physically abusive one

There is no doubt or 'might' about it. He is the more physically abusive one.

I've no doubt either that there are some women who think he's fit.

Darbs76 · 19/04/2017 13:24

The father is not the only abusive one the mum isn't any better. She's disgusting

littlemissangrypants · 19/04/2017 13:25

Yep daily bumps are great parents (compared to daddyofive). The day they found out Finn may need an operation to repair a hole in his heart, Missy (his mother) was posting about how it was the best day of her life as she got a new toy. Plus Brian (his father) couldn't even be bothered to go to the doctors appointment. Compared to Daddyofive they are saints but they could at least pretend they care about their youngest. Hell Ollie got a toy the day of Finns scan yet poor Finn got nothing.
I also love how when they get critizised they pull the miscarriage card. They never normally mention their lost child unless it makes them money or gets the haterz of their backs.
No they don't beat their kids or terrorize them as Daddyofive does but they are still terrible parents.

I haven't seen them, but my 4 year old daughter can't talk and doesn't know her letters or numbers, because she has special needs due to a metabolic disorder. Some children with health issues are later to develop, it has nothing to do with parenting.

Elendon · 19/04/2017 13:28

That man is an aberration of what it is to be a father. He is using his children for money. He is the one who controls the camera.

MusicToMyEars800 · 19/04/2017 13:34

I got emotional enough just reading the OP, I think it is dreadful... I can't bring myself to watch any of it. there must be a way this family can be reported to social services, the videos would be proof enough surely?!
I honestly can't understand how some parents can be so horrible to their own children, I can't even talk about things like this it destroys me inside!

HCantThinkOfAUsername · 19/04/2017 13:50

This is so awful :(

HalfShellHero · 19/04/2017 13:52

I didn't know any of that about them im assuming you've seen a lot of the episodes?

I've long been sick and tired of the whole trend of family vloggers. Get a fucking real job and quit exploiting your children. That aside, at least it allows the world to witness and take action against what we wouldn't otherwise know was happening. I don't know how any CPS investigation could see what is on those videos and find no wrong doing.

I see the mail have picked up this story too although they seem to have focused on the 'prank' element which underplays a lot of what seems to happen in day to day life. I could only bring myself to watch moments in order to report the videos. That poor boy.

Shame on YouTube for rewarding these vile humans.
