The other half days you cannot wear a jumper without a t-shirt underneath but then complains he's too hot. I wear a jumper but no t-shirt underneath
Whose right

Is this going to one of those threads where the op comes back to say by jumper she actually means a long sleeved t-shirt?

CreamCheez · 16/04/2017 21:55

I never want a jumper touching my skin. Must be a cotton t-shirt or shirt underneath. It's just more comfortable.

BigGrannyPants · 16/04/2017 22:06

Jumper only or t shirt only, never bother together I'd be roasting!

Oysterbabe · 16/04/2017 22:09

He's right. I actually cannot stand any kind of wool or other jumpery material touching my skin. I'm scratching just thinking about it.

IvyLeagueUnderTheSea · 16/04/2017 22:14

Always with a tshirt or such like underneath. Far too itchy otherwise.

KickAssAngel · 16/04/2017 22:18

What if the jumper is fairly open-knit? People would be able to see your bra through it.

AristonAndOn · 16/04/2017 22:25

Op I may be the only one, but I'm with you!

TheNoodlesIncident · 16/04/2017 22:26

The word jumper has become very strange indeed.

AristonAndOn · 16/04/2017 22:27

In winter a tshirt on its own is too cold, a tshirt and jumper are too hot, but a jumper on its own is just right 😁

ZaziesPaws · 16/04/2017 22:28

Depends what the jumper is made of I.e. Is it soft, silky or scratchy.

BetterEatCheese · 16/04/2017 22:41

I can't wear a jumper with no under layer - it makes me panic that I cannot take it off if I get too hot.

alleypalley · 16/04/2017 22:53

I never realised the rules on jumpers were so strict.

Surely it depends on many things; what you are doing, the weather, the rest of the outfit. If I'm going to work and a nice light knit jumper is part of my outfit why would I put a tshirt on underneath? Then I would get too hot, and it would also ruin the look of the outfit. If I'm out walking the dog in jeans and sweatshirt then I would put a tshirt on so if I got hot when walking I could take it off and be in jeans and tshirt.

Honeybee79 · 16/04/2017 22:56

I wear a t-shirt under a jumper most of the time but it does depend on the style of the jumper.

HateSummer · 16/04/2017 22:58

Of course you have to wear a t shirt or a vest under a sweater 😱. You don't want armpit sweat on an outer layer of clothing. That's sick.

Ohyesiam · 16/04/2017 23:18

A friend got changed at mine the other day, and I was a bit Shock to see she had a wool jumper with nothing underneath it. I'm afraid I thought " well she is a bit odd I'm not surprised".
Its partly the itch of wool next to your skin, partly the thought of sweatyness on wool(eww), and partly, what do you do if you are too hot, and you can't take your jumper off as you've not got a T-shirt on.

blackteasplease · 16/04/2017 23:34

He's right. You need to be able to take the jumper off if too hot.

Jumpers are top layers, as pp has said.

Also you would need to wash it every time.

Idea of wesring a jumper that you coildnt take off however hot you are makes me feel horrible.

bluegreenyellow · 17/04/2017 00:21

he does what most people do but i guess you can wear your clothes how you like so noones wrong or right in that sense

stella23 · 17/04/2017 01:03

Yanbu, I often wear a jumper with no t shirt underneath. A t shirt and a jumper, that's madness

Tanaqui · 17/04/2017 07:12

A jumper needs a top that covers your armpits underneaath because of sweat.

A knitted top, however, can be worn with just a bra under!

DeathMetalMum · 17/04/2017 07:29

I can't wear a jumper without a vest top underneath otherwise the draft gets through the jumper Hmm. Yesterday I had both a vest and a t-shirt on under my jumper. Yesterday evening I added a hoodie and a blanket while watching TV I was freezing!

MyOtherNameIsTaken · 17/04/2017 07:37

Tee shirt + jumper definitely. Sometimes with a fleece on top.

Hell, I've only stopped wearing thermal long johns under my jeans about a month ago 😂

CasperGutman · 17/04/2017 07:44

I never wear a jumper without a t-shirt or similar underneath. I can see how you might have some thin knitted tops that lend themselves to wearing without a base layer, but I'm finding the idea that the OP has "never" worn anything under a jumper very difficult to get my head round!

(Oh, and with respect to another thread, a quick disclaimer: I'm a man Smile)

SLLM · 17/04/2017 07:47

Of course you can wear it how you want to! I'm talking about thick hoodies/sweaters. The ones where it's not cold enough to require a t-shirt or jacket but too warm for a t-shirt under a jumper
I've never been too warm that I needed to take a jumper off, having nothing underneath keeps me cool

OP posts:
BrutusMcDogface · 17/04/2017 07:50

I would never wear a hoodie without something else, though! That would be very wrong. I have hoodies that I wear at home over other stuff to keep me warm!

Ecureuil · 17/04/2017 08:02

I once wore a jumper with nothing except a bra underneath, about 15 years ago. About midway through the day I was absolutely boiling and sweating and I couldn't do anything about it!! The thought of it still makes me feel claustrophobic and sweaty.
I usually wear a vest/cami underneath jumpers. DH wears t-shirts under hoodies.
