The other half days you cannot wear a jumper without a t-shirt underneath but then complains he's too hot. I wear a jumper but no t-shirt underneath
Whose right

This thread is highly distressing. Talk of jumpers with no base layer and, even worse, a man was right. I need chocolate.

IfYouGoDownToTheWoodsToday · 16/04/2017 18:37

I always wear a camisole underneath and have taught DDs the same. You don't wear a jumper with nothing between you and itShock

WhiskeySourpuss · 16/04/2017 18:39

I don't do that whole layering codswallop... it just makes me feel claustrophobic I'm wearing a cardi over a shirt just now (was a bit chilly) & already feel like I'm being smothered so I'm definitely in the OP's jumper only camp.

But then again I never wear a coat, only wear socks with boots but not always & have been known to wear flip flops in the rain so people think I'm a bit Hmm anyway.

YorkshireTree · 16/04/2017 18:48

Oh dear oh dear.

A proper jumper requires an underlayer. T shirt usually or cami if warm enough. I do however have some thin knitwear tops which look a little like jumpers but are tops (in my head at least) so can be worn without although I do almost always wear a cami beneath regardless.

Second the posters above who have correctly identified this thread as highly distressing for a number of reasons.

RusholmeRuffian · 16/04/2017 18:49

He is 100% correct

HRHTiggyD · 16/04/2017 18:50

It's like a fruit cake with icing but no marzipan.

Fruitcocktail6 · 16/04/2017 18:51

He's right of course. I would get such sweaty pits if I wore a jumper and no base layer.

What if your jumper is then too hot, you can't take it off Confused

HRHTiggyD · 16/04/2017 18:51

Or a cheese sandwich with no butter.

AHedgehogCanNeverBeBuggered · 16/04/2017 18:51

Lego I just snorted Diet Coke out of my nose at that, thanks a lot! AngryGrinGrin

HRHTiggyD · 16/04/2017 18:52

Or a planter with no broken bits of pot in the bottom.

khajiit13 · 16/04/2017 18:58

Yes he is correct imo. If a jumper and t shirt is too warm for me then I'd wear a T-shirt with a zip up hoodie or cardigan and leave it open

blackcherries · 16/04/2017 19:01

I never wear a jumper without a vest or t-shirt under! The thought of doing otherwise is making me itchy!

ShowMePotatoSalad · 16/04/2017 19:03

You need a top under your jumper, so if you get too hot you're not walking round Debenhams in a bra.

Mysterycat23 · 16/04/2017 19:31

My best friend in secondary school would wear a jumper with only a bra underneath. I thought she was incredibly edgy and rebellious. I would never dare Blush

Bodicea · 16/04/2017 19:35

He's right. You must do a lot of washing.
I have noticed it's a generational thing in my job. Over 60's often wear jumpers/ cardis etc without a t-shirt underneath. They might wear some sort of slip/camisole instead though.
Younger generation tend to wear t-shirts/ little strappy vest t-shirts under tops depending on the neckline.

RortyCrankle · 16/04/2017 19:35

What madness is this? I am currently wearing a t shirt under my jumper and shall probably so so again and keep on doing it until the weather becomes less chilly.

Madeyemoodysmum · 16/04/2017 19:49

Depends on style of jumper. I tend to wear thin or 3/4 sleeve ones in spring/autumn so no base layer but in winter I wear thick jumpers with a base layer.

Ginmakesitallok · 16/04/2017 20:05

At least my jumpers haven't been darked on. I will continue to wear them without a 'Base layer' (something I think is only needed by mountaineers or fishermen )

RosyGold · 16/04/2017 20:21

I would get too itchy in just a jumper..always wear a t shirt or vest top underneath

0live · 16/04/2017 21:02

Does it depend on what the jumper is made of ?

< looks around for the pedants >

I mean the fabric of which the jumper is made ?

Cotton or silk can be worn next to the skin.

Wool requires an under garment .

#controversial

BrutusMcDogface · 16/04/2017 21:06

Pahaha! Really?! What does it matter? Wear what you want to wear. If he's too hot he can take his bloody jumper off.....ConfusedHmm

I wear jumpers with nothing underneath (well...apart from a bra Grin) I haven't melted yet.

highfruit · 16/04/2017 21:26

Your DH is right. I like wearing T shirts under jumpers as it means I won't have to wash it so often - I will wear a jumper for 3-4 weeks before washing it (not every day as I chop and change). T shirts are cheap so I don't mind them being washed repeatedly, but I like to hand wash wool and it's not good to wash that too often.

TheFuckitBuckit · 16/04/2017 21:35

I'm also with your dh, I have never worn a jumper without a vest or t-shirt, just thinking about it makes me itch.
I also tend to feel the cold so jumper on its own in cooler weather would not be warm enough, and i would rather be able to peel off the layers when I have a hot flush the need arises!

gleam · 16/04/2017 21:43

He's right.
I've never worn a jumper without a t-shirt or similar underneath.

SpreadYourHappiness · 16/04/2017 21:45

He's right. I always wear a tshirt under a jumper. Get too hot, take jumper off.

I tend to feel that if it's cold enough that you're wearing a jumper, you need a tshirt underneath.
