AIBU to think greedy people should be shot at dawn?

And by that I mean people who take more than their fair share just because they can, not because they need it.

Went to an Easter egg hunt thing today. Community event so low cost (£1 a child) as some eggs had been donated. Each child given a small cardboard basket - big enough to fit in four or five eggs/items. Some children were scooping up enough everything they could see. Fair enough, small children so probably didn't know any better, although the rules had been explained beforehand - only what you can fit in your basket. However, several adults were encouraging their children to stuff their pockets full, and one woman actually shoved a load in her handbag!

There were complaints, but apparently she refused to put them back because she'd paid for them. Oh yes, that £2 you paid for your two kids really covered the price of the eggs you all took. And there weren't quite enough to go round because of those who took far more than their share.

Next year they are planing to use fake eggs which will have to be exchanged for chocolate, or do it as a treasure hunt type event, to stop the greed. Apparently they had issues at Christmas as well.

What on earth possesses people to be so greedy? It's even worse when they take way more than they can possibly eat (think 9 fairy cakes!) and are wasteful as well.

Just been in sainsburys. Loads of Easter eggs for 50p. These horrible people pushing kids out the way could of just waited and spent £1 on more chocolate than one person needs anyway.

I bet working in a buffet is worse than working in a morgue / sewer for disgusting scenes.

DH used to work in Pizza Hut eons ago, and once gave a diner his salad for free as he was so impressed by his epic cucumber wall.

People are weird bacon for fighting over stuff - DH more recently worked for Boots and he had actual hand injuries from when the No7 Protect and Perfect Serum was released - he was clawed at as he restocked. Hmm

Yanbu.
Our church did an Easter Egg hunt. It was Fab. Children had go take an egg from each basket and that is what they did.
Another year they hid small treats in the garden. My Dd was an alter server so was late. She was given a treat by another child without prompting.
Although I admit to going overboard with Pizza Hut salad.

We took our 2 year old to an Easter egg hunt yesterday half an hour after it started and there were no eggs left. Organiser said a few older kids turned up at opening time and left with pockets full so there were none left for anyone else. I did say I was surprised their parents didn't tell them to put some back but she wasn't surprised. We were in a small town last week which had hidden little Easter treats around the place ( lovely idea) - my dd found one and kept it but then she somehow found another and obviously we told her to leave it for someone else to find. Don't seem to have got any good karma though! Although she had had enough chocolate to be fair 😃

I meant to post this earlier- hope it helps someone!

Everyone who wants to run a hunt and not get greedy people hogging everything, the best way is to use two packs of cards. One pack is hidden, the other cards are then handed individually to the children so they can find the matching card to make a pair. Pairs are exchanged for eggs/prizes.

That way you can monitor who gets what, they can't pick up more than one pair at a time, and you can adapt the difficulty for ages e.g. Hearts are easy to find, diamonds a bit harder, spades and clubs really hard.

Use card/paper ones rather than plastic and if you lose one completely it'll just biodegrade eventually.

We had a treasure hunt with envelopes- very spread out to give everyone a chance of finding something near to their home- spoiled by adults racing in cars to each clue spot.

It's all very well joining in (free activity) but it was aimed at children. At least let them have the prize.

Scent thank you that's such a cool idea! I may see if I can adapt that as a game for DS' birthday party
