To think it's unfair on the sacconejolys children

brexitstolemyfuture · 14/04/2017 16:46

I don't watch them. But millions do. I don't really think it's very fair on the children to record everything noteworthy (well 99.9% is boring as fuck) everday and post it online.

How do they get away without child working / performance permits?

Eccentricpickle did you see her video about her story to do with a guy she was seeing and the condom getting 'stuck ' that was so funny!

Excitement2017 · 14/04/2017 18:16

I actually really like them, only watched a few of their videos but I think they are very likeable!
Their videos aren't that long so I doubt their children are just filmed all day every day, probably very little tbh and lets face it done we all take quite a few photos and videos of our dcs anyway - it's probably not much different to the vast majority anyway.

I find them to be, from what I've seen very positive role models. He's a very hands on dad and Anna down to earth and seems very genuine. I like the fact she eats so healthily too and seems to not be one of those ultra skinny types. She's a normal size and I think that's good.
I agree it will be nice for their dc to look back one day and see their childhood.

Floggingmolly · 14/04/2017 18:30

But you see a 15 minute (staged) snapshot of their day, Excitement
You can't possibly draw any conclusions from that.

EccentricPickle · 14/04/2017 18:31

I did, Yukbuck Grin.

OvariesBeforeBrovaries · 14/04/2017 18:35

Yukbuck I think I recognise who you mean about the vlogger with the car crash of a life (I haven't RTFT) - TaylerTragedy or whatever she's going by now?

I can't stand DailyBumps. They let Ollie get away with murder, neglect poor Finn(derella) and every vlog is a way of flogging something they've been paid to promote to their troupe of underage minions.

BaggyCheeks · 14/04/2017 18:38

From what I've seen of them they come across as utter bell ends. I think it absolutely is exploitation of the children - their subscribers and views only took off once their children came along. They don't need to monetise their children to have videos for them to look back on in future years.

You can draw a conclusion based on snapshots when it's the same stuff shown every day for however many years, if my late teenaged SIL complaints are anything to go by.

brexitstolemyfuture · 14/04/2017 18:39

I'd imagine it's pretty difficult not to be a hands on dad if your full time job is taking a selfie of you and your kids everyday and there is a nanny and dog walker for when the camera isn't rolling.

Agree about the the third child, they had it as their channel was slowing down.

Floggingmolly · 14/04/2017 18:41

Well yes, Baggy. I meant the conclusions Excitement seems to have drawn. She's obviously swallowed it whole.

BaggyCheeks · 14/04/2017 18:43

Ah of course flogging. That's what I get for not paying enough attention to what I'm replying to!

Excitement2017 · 14/04/2017 18:44

True, but from what I've seen that's my opinion. I've only seen a few videos but they seem fine to me.
I'm sure their dcs will make their own choices when they are older. Perhaps they'll decide they want their privacy or they may decide to carry on being part of the YouTube videos who knows. It's just another job at the end of the day and they've clearly done very well from it all so fair play to them

Yukbuck · 14/04/2017 18:45

baggycheeks seriously... you'd be surprised. You only need to see the daily bumps for 5 minutes to realise that even having the camera rolling doesn't make you hands on. They are very hands off parents.

KingPrawnOkay · 14/04/2017 18:49

I hate family vloggers, it's point blank exploiting children. And all this bullshit about "making memories" when they really mean making money. You just know none of them have plans in place for when they wake up one day and they're old news. Also, whoever mentioned Daily Bumps and Finnderella, I'm going to assume you're from YTMD Wink.

BaggyCheeks · 14/04/2017 18:54

That's part of my problem with parent bloggers Excitement - the children just can't decide they want privacy later down the line. They've grown up being conditioned to watch themselves on Youtube, they've grown up encouraged to call strangers/the abstract Internet their friends. Even if they did want privacy, there's still footage of them being born, taking their first steps, learning to talk, stuffing their faces with pancakes online forever. And even if it is deleted at some vague point down the line, it won't be before it's been consumed by potentially millions of viewers.

And then there's the issue of how much actual quality time they get that isn't based on getting a perfect viral moment. It's like people living a stylised life through Facebook, but on steroids.

Excitement2017 · 14/04/2017 19:00

Like I said I've only watched a few of their videos. I can see your point but I do think in this day and age that this is the way a lot of people are going to be making a living. They seem to have done particularly well from it which will clearly bring about benefits for their dc they may otherwise have not had.

It's one of those I think you either agree with it or disagree there's no middle ground. I can't get too worked up about them when there's a hell of a lot worse going on in the world than family vlogging

24carrottop · 14/04/2017 19:03

No one has mentioned here that Jonathan Joly is possibly the strangest and most irritating man ever.

He acts like a 6 year old

x246 · 14/04/2017 19:14

They seem to have done particularly well from it which will clearly bring about benefits for their dc they may otherwise have not had.

IMO, that makes it even worse because it makes it impossible for the kids to stop doing it. Yes, they make a lot of money but I don't for a second think they're sitting on enough savings to stop vlogging tomorrow and keep their current lifestyle. What kid is going to ask to stop vlogging if they know it means they'll lose a lot of the nice stuff in their life?

OvariesBeforeBrovaries · 14/04/2017 19:16

Also, whoever mentioned Daily Bumps and Finnderella, I'm going to assume you're from YTMD

Guilty as charged Blush I love YTMD!

FataliePorkman · 14/04/2017 20:36

I don't agree with it either.

Another example is the Shaytards- who are currently on a year's hiatus because Shay is apparently an alcoholic and had been sexting a webcam model. Regardless of whether or not it's true- the kids have to live through it at school day in and day out.

SnipSnipMrBurgess · 14/04/2017 20:59

I had dealings once with the SJ people before they really made it on YT and before the kids. Utter tools.

FataliePorkman · 14/04/2017 21:04

I'm intrigued Snip Grin

Softkitty2 · 14/04/2017 21:51

There content has no integrity. They produce videos for the $$$.

Softkitty2 · 14/04/2017 21:54

Jonathan is a man child. They are very materialistic and their content is shite.

FacelikeaBagofHammers · 14/04/2017 21:58

God, her blog is so bloody vacuous and boring - "here's what I ate today" "Oh here is what I had for breakfast on Wednesday" - I DON'T EFFIN CARE.

Are people really sucked into this stuff? Do they care what someone else eats for breakfast, every day? I mean, writing this stuff must be soul destroying. Every bloody day.

Excitement2017 · 14/04/2017 22:49

I thought it was quite popular to document food choices/daily eating I've seen numerous threads on here 'what have you eaten today'
