And you knew they had found a lump and that their DM had died from breast cancer, would you make contact?

Do they not know their DM died from it? Or is it their grandmother? Would depend on circs of estrangement and benefit of providing any med info. If med info relevant, I'd perhaps get other in contact relative to pass on info.

Hope they do well on treatment

Yes they know DM had breast cancer when they were together and that she died from it after they had divorved. Estranged for about 6 months at the time and although have tried repairing the relationship, this amoung other things, keeps coming back to me. I guess I'm struggling because I could never imagine treating my own DD like this.
