At least some journalists and commentators still see through DT.

Interesting re the 'town halls'. Thanks Ginger.

The press - Trump administration war is so bigly, right now, that Rex smiles while a US journalist is insulted for asking tough questions in Russia.
Quite unlike other Administrations.

I ducked out of these threads a while ago (I think just before Parliament voted to go ahead with Article 50) because I needed a break from all the horrible news. Feeling a bit stronger now so back into it.

NK situation is worrying. And of course Twitler is playing golf. I definitely agree with cozie that he's being manipulated from multiple directions. GOP doesn't actually want him to look competent.

BiglyBadgers · 14/04/2017 17:47

Doesn't actually say if he got approval or not. Just that he didn't need it. Clearly whatever the direct approval needed the bomb wouldn't have been dropped if they weren't pretty damn sure Trump would be fine with it. In fact I rather find the idea that we are now in a situation where the military can drop a bloody great big bomb, just to make a point, without needing any external approval even scarier than when i thought Trump had ordered it Confused

Officials: No need for Trump's approval to use massive bomb

They could send him to Camp David for the rest of his Presidency, on some security excuse (see this season of Homeland) and that would be just as bad.

Remind me. Isn't California a signatory to the Paris agreement in its own right? (I may have misremembered.)

Lweji · 14/04/2017 17:57

According to Trump, the US military has been "so successful lately".

Well they've managed to explode some bigly bombs (that Obama had not wanted to use) or a bigly number of them. They've also managed to kill a biglier number of civilians.
Success!!!

And what a coicidence that bombings occurred at the same time that Russia links have further emerged.

BiglyBadgers · 14/04/2017 18:02

Sorry, what was that? I couldn't hear you over the noise of explosions...

Dumdedumdedum · 14/04/2017 18:02

A little story the husband told me today: He was travelling through Riyadh airport this week and there are now separate, presumably more stringent, security queues for British Airways travellers who want to carry ipads etc on board. The man in front of him turned to him and said: "How dare they, don't they know I'm British!", to which the H (Greek but often taken for British) replied: "That doesn't mean anything, though!". British man told him: "But I'm white British, so it obviously doesn't apply to me!" Husband (also white, non-Muslim, even though a narsty European furriner) told him to stop digging. The guy didn't get it. I presume he voted Brexit and would be a Trumpeter if he were American.
I am in the same despair I was this morning.
