…to think that Cadbury's chocolate has gone a bit shit??

Deeply unimportant thread klaxon.

I don't eat chocolate much these days but we have a ton left over from Christmas and as I'm feeling rotten, I thought I'd shovel down a crafty Dairy Milk after dinner today whilst hiding behind the cross-trainer in the spare room. Classy me.

BLURGH! Why did it taste like sugary brown goop?!? This isn't at all how I remember Cadbury's tasting. Is it me or did something happen to the recipe??

If you can get cadburys Ireland chocolate get it you will notice the difference especially the golden crisp yum

silkybear · 11/04/2017 20:33

Lindt or Lidl are a good bet. Cadburys is a mouthful of dog arseholes. I never understand the fuss about American chocolate, Hersheys cookies and cream chocolate is one of the most disgusting thing I've ever tried, had an aftertaste of vomit for some obscure reason.

KinkyAfro · 11/04/2017 20:34

I was earwigging on a conversation in Sainsbury's today and 2 women were talking about Cadbury going back to their original recipe and moving the production back here....dont know if that's true?

brux3080 · 11/04/2017 20:36

This must be the 100th thread about this. you're not wrong though. I haven't bothered to find a cream egg this year at all after last year getting all excited and then discover than I might as well have eaten a nasty choc pot full of glue. Envy

DropZoneOne · 11/04/2017 20:38

I had some of DD's supposedly dairy milk easter egg earlier. Did not taste of dairy milk at all, it was greasy rather than creamy. Is that the palm oil? It's just wrong.

I remember being in Australia 20 years ago and getting my mum to send me English Cadbury chocolate because the Aussie stuff tasted different.

ItsReginaPhalange · 11/04/2017 20:38

I just gave away my whole Easter Egg it was that disgusting!

2bluestars · 11/04/2017 20:39

I quite like m&s chocolate actually, i have their gigantic buttons in the fridge and they're flippin nice.

Totally agree re Cadburys, it's such a shame

Gingernaut · 11/04/2017 20:40

Green and Blacks are supposedly ok, but they're part of the same conglomerate.

Lindt?

PossibiliTea · 11/04/2017 20:43

Errr I literally just ate half a bar of dairy milk and was like wtf is this! Sorry I've not read the whole thread but needed to agree quickly as I have just experienced it!!

Wando1986 · 11/04/2017 20:47

Palm oil. It's vile. Kraft should never have been allowed to buy them. It's vomit inducing. Same company own Toblerone too which is why that's gone shit as well.

Wando1986 · 11/04/2017 20:48

OP Aldi chocolate can be amazing id you pick the right one. Their cherry chilli chocolate bars are to die for.

Wando1986 · 11/04/2017 20:48

If*

HesSpartacus · 11/04/2017 20:52

Only get Hotel Chocolat now as Cadburys and Thorntons chocolate tastes like slurry.

I also recommend Booja Booja hazelnut truffles. No dairy and they still taste better than the two offenders.

MrsMoastyToasty · 11/04/2017 20:52

They can't move it back to the same site. They sold the land and houses are currently being built. (I live about a mile from where they had a factory )

FastMakoShark · 11/04/2017 20:55

Kraft is Mondelez now, or it was taken over by them, can't really make sense of what actually happened from looking at Google results on that

The Creme Egg has been horrible since they stopped making it with Dairy Milk

They stopped making Crunchie Easter eggs and now seem to be rolling back on the smaller Caramel eggs

CoolCarrie · 11/04/2017 20:56

Why don't we all boycott Cadburys ? Especially at this time of year, get them where it hurts in their profits!

SheSaidHeSaid · 11/04/2017 20:56

I don't ever buy it now as it's just not the same and not worth it.

Brokejoke · 11/04/2017 20:57

Yep it's dreadful. I rarely eat chocolate and never was a big Cadburys fan anyway, but once I got a craving for a caramel bar. It was bitterly disappointing. I've heard bad things about their other stuff too. Kraft did it.

RubyGoat · 11/04/2017 20:59

YANBU. It's utterly vile now. Doesn't even melt, so it's no good for using in cooking. Bleugh.

EggysMom · 11/04/2017 21:03

I used to love Dairy Milk, now I won't touch it, it takes "too glossy" ... Discovered that Frys now also belongs to Mondelez, so that's the end of my peppermint creams ... I can see me living on Galaxy chocolate and Aldi/Lidl foreign brands now!

jammyjay · 11/04/2017 21:04

This is why I only eat Hotel Chocolat chocolate! If only I could afford it!

Bluntness100 · 11/04/2017 21:05

Forthesakeoffuck..,hiding totally understandable then. 😂

I must be the only person who still likes cadburys. I've gone right off galaxy though,,,Hmm

ChardonnayKnickertonSmythe · 11/04/2017 21:05

I boycott all chocolate made with palm oil.

FairfaxAikman · 11/04/2017 21:06

If you really care about chocolate, then get bean to bar single origin stuff - beans from different regions have different tastes. You can also get darker milks (50-60%) than the more commercial (in the 30s).
Femmes de Virunga chocolate (55% milk) is nice and helps support female cocoa growers in Africa.

JustDanceAddict · 11/04/2017 21:07

Has tasted shit for a while now.
