This came up on my Facebook page and I was a bit flabbergasted by the thought of gluing hair accessories to the head of a baby

Minipie they are horrific!

CaoNiMartacus · 11/04/2017 18:51

This could be viewed as misgendering if the baby girl grows up to identify as male.

Only half joking

lazarusb · 11/04/2017 18:55

Dd was bald until she was 18 months old. I once had a woman ask me if she was a boy or a girl (despite her having quite a feminine coat on). I said she was a girl and she asked if I was sure. I responded that she had a vagina so fairly sure. The woman was not impressed. No way did I feel I needed to stick things on her head to 'prove' it though!

SailAwayWithMeHoney · 11/04/2017 18:56

Oh fucking hell. It won't change anything with baby being assumed to be a boy... "why did you put a pink bow on a boy" Grin

AskBasil · 11/04/2017 18:59

Of course YABU. Adults need to know who to treat as though they were put on Earth to be pretty and who to treat as full humans.

TalkingintheDark · 11/04/2017 19:00

OMG 🙀

FrenchLavender · 11/04/2017 19:01

What's with the '100% honey free' thing? Confused

Someone is going to have to explain that to me.

WhingingTulip · 11/04/2017 19:03

I'm now imagining what I could stick to my DS's head Hmm If tonight's bedtime is anything like yesterday's then horns perhaps? Could also give him a huge beard....

Vinorosso74 · 11/04/2017 19:03

Why on earth would you stick those on a baby's head??? I would never have dreamt of sticking anything on DD's head when she was a baby to make her look "girlie". She wore some pink clothes yes but that was it.
That said at 7 she is fairly "girlie" in her clothing choices.

TiredCluelessMummy · 11/04/2017 19:05

It's actually quite sad. Clearly to some people a baby is more like a toy doll than an actual human being.

MarriedinMaui · 11/04/2017 19:05

😂😂😂
French - you're not meant to give babies honey because of a small risk it could have botulism.

I'd have thought the high chance of choking on a felt fake hair clip was more of a concern but who knows?

ILostItInTheEarlyNineties · 11/04/2017 19:06

100% Honey Free
I'm assuming that's to reassure parent's that they're not sticking bows on with a blob of honey (it would attract wasps).

AssassinatedBeauty · 11/04/2017 19:07

The "honey free" thing is because under 1s are not supposed to be given honey to eat (risk of infant botulism). As I guess you can't stop a baby pulling off a bow stuck on its head and touching the glue then that's why they've used agave syrup not honey.

Who buys this stuff? Dripping agave syrup on your baby's head so you can decorate it? Strange!

Applebite · 11/04/2017 19:10

I have a very religious, very bald Jewish colleague who struggles to wear his skullcap. He might benefit from this.

I can't see how a baby can...

ILostItInTheEarlyNineties · 11/04/2017 19:10

The honey thing is absurd. It's fine to suck on an earring or plastic flower if it's covered in syrup then. Confused
Who buys this crap? It would just slide off their head anyway as soon as it got a bit warm.

Error404usernamenotfound · 11/04/2017 19:13

Of course these are absolutely vital, OP - how else would people know whether to exclaim how pretty or how big and strong a baby is? It's important that babies are given the right message from infancy, or who knows how they'll grow up...

Also, that 'never to early to be girlie' tagline very nearly killed my laptop, as I had to suppress a sudden urge to fling it across the room Angry

GoldStars3 · 11/04/2017 19:16

Nabobs the superior girl version? This is about girls being shoved into the ornamental femininity box at the earliest possible opportunity. They're not here to experience life, like boys are, they are here to be experienced as ornaments by others. They aren't good enough just as they are, like boys are, they require beauty enhancement if they 'fall short' by not having luxurious hair upon arrival.

It's not a compliment to be treated like a thing, and girls are treated as superior to boys nowhere in the World. Boys are not the ones being insulted by this kind of dehumanising shit.

SparklyUnicornPoo · 11/04/2017 19:17

that can't be good for babies skin, plus little earrings and bows are a choking hazard but mostly, it looks fucking stupid. Not going to lie, I have a whole range of photos of my DD in stupid flowery head band things MIL kept buying DD, DD hated them, I hated them, MIL put one on her every time I turned my back but even she isn't weird enough to glue such hideous items on a child.

RedGrapeCornSnake · 11/04/2017 19:18

EccentricPickle -'you've been able to buy stick on earrings for donkeys'

I TOTALLY misread that and imagined something very different from your meaning 😂

FrenchLavender · 11/04/2017 19:18

Okay, so babies shouldn't eat honey, fair enough, (thanks to everyone who pointed that out) but would anyone have assumed that baby head glue might have contained honey if they hadn't specified that it didn't?

Do other brands of washable head glue usually contain honey then? Confused

ILostItInTheEarlyNineties · 11/04/2017 19:21

Exactly, French it may as well say 100% Arsenic free.

DonaldStott · 11/04/2017 19:25

I think it cos agarve is a bit of a honey like substance, but that aside, FUCKIN HELL. GIRLIE GLUE FFS.

Anyone who buys and uses this, is a complete dickhead. Probably the type to do one of them smashcake shite things

But this did make me lol

AliceKlar · 11/04/2017 19:25

Whoever came up with this is sniffing glue never mind sticking stuff on babies heads with it.

OvariesBeforeBrovaries · 11/04/2017 19:26

YABU it is so traumatic when people mistake my girl baby for a boy baby this will save the NHS so much money in counselling people like me who can't cope when the nasty lady in the supermarket tells me what a handsome boy my LITTLE PRINCESS is Angry Angry [veryangry]

Spiralblanket · 11/04/2017 19:29

What the hell
