To expect my DH to deal with my Asda delivery fuck up?

Yesterday i started an Asda delivery order and thought I'd booked it for Wednesday. To keep my door slot i ordered the most expensive champagne available, thinking i would get it all sorted today. However I've just realised on waking up that my order is booked for today! So i have some champagne and a few other things coming. I'm also working and my DH is off with the kids. So, he's asleep right now but I'm going to have to phone him from work and tell him to get a refund on the champagne. He's not going to be impressed and I feel like a right fool! The other option is to keep the champagne but it's a huge waste of money! Idiot!

Good point about people buying different things each week, genuinely hadn't thought of that! Duh ;)

My weekly shop is pretty much the same week in week out, so I just reorder last weeks and tweak if necessary.

Did Ocado really contact you about the champagne, Czar? That would be my only concern, though I only put two bottles in.

🍾I've just used my phone to post that, Edballs.

CakesAreBiscuitsToo · 13/04/2017 13:25

NightCzar I had the same email!

Falconhoof1 · 13/04/2017 13:32

Edballs if i type the word champagne it offers me a 🍾 on my phone.

So the only option is to stick in something expensive to hold the slot.

But you can order something cheap, and choose the quantity 50, its no harder, surely? Tins of something you eat regularly, jars of coffee you drink, or dishwasher tablets. Simple.

No need for one really extravagant thing

I guess that would be an option ohido, might try that in future!

The last post is only once

The whole point of reserving a slot with champagne is because it's a one hit job. No need to work out how many coffee jars to add, even if you do have that particular one you'd still have to go back in to amend -so what difference does it make what you hold it with?

treaclesoda · 13/04/2017 13:50

Fair enough. But it doesn't matter to me, because I'm taking the expensive thing out. And on the offchance that I forget (although that has never happened so far) 50 eg tins of tomatoes are of no real use to me because I've got nowhere to put them. If I end up with a bottle of whiskey (my 'reserve the slot' item of choice) at least I only have to store one thing until I use it. Smile

treaclesoda · 13/04/2017 13:51

Why did my bold fail? Sad

bbcessex · 13/04/2017 13:55

I hold my slot with 6 bottles of prosecco.. that way I'm never sad if it accidentally turns up!

Surely everyone holds slots for efficiency?

EnidButton · 13/04/2017 14:01

hold my slot

Toomanycats99 · 13/04/2017 14:04

I held my Xmas slot with four giant bags of cat litter. Completely forgot to cancel the order. Unfortunately the cat was very old and had to be put to sleep before the delivery arrived. £40 of cat littter and no cat.

Simple.Ahh flashback to a thread on here (I hope it was on here otherwise noone will know wtf I am on about... Blush )where someone ordered like 200 nobbly bobblys and forgot to amend order and thy all came. Someone suggested taking them all to the park and handing them out to random kids Grin

IIRC some people didn't believe the OP so she posted screenshots of the order and of the receipt too.

WankingMonkey · 14/04/2017 03:25

Total fail of a post there, even failier if noone remembers or it was indeed on another forum..

CaptainBraandPants · 14/04/2017 07:15

Wanking I remember that thread, I posted on it how I ordered six kilos of carrots once, instead of six carrots Grin

ohidoliketobebesidethecoast · 14/04/2017 07:16

I can imagine that thread spawning others tho....'a strange woman just gave my kids knobbly bobblies in the park, AIBU to think that was a bit odd?' :-D

I do this at Christmas with fancy cake. I'm obviously missing a trick. But I also got a "are you sure that's all you want for Christmas dinner" email.

NightCzar · 15/04/2017 07:34

reuset I found the email. I'm so rubbish at clearing out my inbox.

I did actually want the champagne, since it was Christmas...

"With Christmas fast approaching, we want to ensure we can fulfill all our customers orders and are busy ordering stock in order to do so.

We have noticed you have a bottle of champagne in your order and just want to check this is accurate and you do require this item in your Christmas delivery.

If this is not accurate, please edit your order as soon as possible to ensure that we get the correct quantities from our suppliers and also make sure you receive all the items you do need for Christmas.

I hope you have a Merry Christmas

Kind regards,

Ocado Customer Service Team"
