Random old lady

This is so odd...I've been in my lounge at about this time last two days and this little old lady had trotted Past my house, stopped in front of he drive, opened her little trolley and emptied a few bricks onto my drive!!!!
Now our drive is in the middle of being done so has stacks of bricks on it anyway but she is just tossing her old ones onto my drive!

Would I be mean to say something next time? I really don't want to have to clear her rubbish as they obvs aren't the same bricks we are using. So weird!

my husband does drivesways and is doing ours gradually so it has been in a state for a good few months

Aww bless, she probably thinks you're doing it bit by bit as you can afford to buy the bricks!

IloveBanff · 07/04/2017 18:19

Well I'd have to exit at the side of the house and run round to the front - and I have a toddler so it makes it a mission to hot foot it out the house and still catch her

Can you fashion a lasso out of some rope, OP? Then you may be able to catch her from a distance. If not, maybe you have a boomerang. Then you can knock her down as she runs away. Very handy are boomerangs, especially if the target isn't moving very fast. Wink

Let her see you taking a photograph of her in action Smile

Wishiwasmoiradingle2017 · 07/04/2017 18:23

If you sell the house she is gonna make a claim for a share!!

MatildaTheCat · 07/04/2017 18:24

Pack up a bag of dirty old pants etc and leave ready by the door. Next time you spot her fly to the door and cry, 'Please! Wait! I feel terrible that you keep bringing me gifts and I've given you nothing in return. These are for you. I won't let you refuse after all your kindness.' Then run back indoors as fast as you can.

That should sort it. Grin

Are you sure she isn't stealing some rather than leaving them? I cant work out why she would do that!

user1474439326 · 07/04/2017 19:48

Yep defo leaving bricks! Weirdo!

alltoomuchrightnow · 07/04/2017 19:50

yes please get a photo!

Patriciathestripper1 · 07/04/2017 19:54

Perhaps she's swopping them for your new bricks?

dudsville · 07/04/2017 21:20

I'm not saying this is appropriate but I was picturing you standing at your window aghast and immobilised by the weirdness of the scene, whereas my FIL, who has a very loud voice and the nature of an elephant protecting its young, would yell a defensive "HEY!" to her in such a way that would probably leave her a little unwell. I've heard this many times. It trains all of us out of all sorts of habits he doesn't like!

NapQueen · 07/04/2017 21:21

Id open the door and shout "Oy bitch, you dropped your bricks"

SaucyJack · 07/04/2017 21:23

Does your local tip charge for domestic bricks and hardcore waste?

She's probably hoping to save herself the four quid over the next month or so. Bless her tight arse.

user1474439326 · 07/04/2017 21:45

Just filled DH in and he isn't Impressed😂 - he said she came and asked, last time he was out there working on it, if she could off load some stuff she had Into
Our piles of stuff and he said no! He wants me to tell her to stop it if she does it again 😬😬 😂

Aww, am disappointed at explanation!
Had an image of old lady climbing into a skip to help with your brick collection!!!

ASDismynormality · 08/04/2017 11:52

I would follow her home and return the bricks into her front garden. She's really cheeky considering she's already been asked not too!

roverrange · 08/04/2017 11:53

😮

So she's a defiant old lady!

flummoxedlummox · 08/04/2017 12:01

I'd be mortarfied. Grin

LionSock · 08/04/2017 12:09

Let her carry on dumping bricks but collect them up. Once all the work is done, get her brick collection and dump them on her door step. Grin

Rossigigi · 08/04/2017 12:12

Follow her home and dump them back!!!

Dumbo412 · 08/04/2017 12:31

I'd dump them back! With a ribbon on top!

Dare dare double dare. Put a big sign up 'No Fly Tipping.'

chastenedButStillSmiling · 08/04/2017 13:44

Glad she's got a trolly, otherwise she'd be a very STRONG old lady.

I stole a brick today. Is that karma? (I am, of course, ashamed of my crime) (it was from a roadside and seemed to be quite random, not a recent fall from nearby wall or anything. It was just a lonely random brick and I happened to need one)
