WIBU to question the validity of this Report based on the following?

My 7 year old ds just received a dx of Non Verbal Learning Disability. I received a copy of the Psychologists evaluation in the post yesterday. The envelope was addressed to A & G Surname. Our initials are J and T. Surname was correct. The cover letter states; Dear Annabelle and Gerard and then goes on to describe my son by name e.g E is a very chatty boy. About 3 paragraphs into the report it changes to 'Conor' and the report talks about Conors scores and Conors issues. This continues for 3 or 4 paragraphs and then reverts back to my sons name which begins with an E and is not remotely like Conor. Would I be unreasonable to question the validity of the dx based on the sloppiness of the report?

Yes - I'd definitely check they haven't mixed up your family with another one of the same surname or a similar one.

I think you could query the report and ask for an amended one, but from what you've said you already knew the diagnosis so it's likely that was made from the assessment and not the report. On that basis I don't think you can question the validity of the diagnosis.

Are you questioning the diagnosis? Is it out of the blue, or were you aware your DS had issues?

Yeah I asked for the evaluation and it was done through the school. It wasn't a dx I was expecting or even knew much about beforehand. It was based on an hour spent with the educational psychologist. I wasn't present for the evaluation. Some of it I agree with. His fine motor skills are very poor and he finds writing very difficult as his pencil grip is very unusual. The report says things like he loves playing on his Xbox but he doesn't have an xbox. When I look up NVLD it seems to be an umbrella term which includes dyspraxia, discalculia and AS. His maths scores are high and I don't see any signs whatsoever of AS. She said his short-term working memory function is very poor which I felt terrible about as I am forever getting on to him for forgetting things thinking he was just avoiding stuff. His spelling score was atrocious also. I'm just wondering how thorough the evaluation process was based on the standard of the report I received.

I'd certainly query it. There may also be a data protection issue.

Sounds like a cut and paste job gone wrong. So do query the report, how relevant is it to your child as an individual? Is the diagnosis valid under these circumstances. It sounds badly done to me.
