To pay £32 for a bra for my 13 year old!

tireddotcom72 · 06/04/2017 08:54

I don't actually have much choice as my large chested 13 year old is now a 28F! It's hereditary we all are large chested in our family. But she is still growing at Xmas she was a dd and bras on the high street don't go that size so off to bravissimo and 2 bras purchased. This week I noticed she is bursting out of them back to bravissimo and now a 28F! 2 bras purchased at £32 each! And they aren't attractive when you are 13 and want pretty bras your flat chested friends buy in primark! I wish I could pay primark prices.

And now getting upset about bikinis for summer as she realises all the ones she likes that her friends wear are not going to fit. She is going to have to get a (her words) horrible old lady one like you have to wear!

I thought Primark went up to massive sizes?

Have you checked the bigger stores, OP?

Asos sell bikinis starting in a 30 back and they're small fitting - I'm a 28G and a 30F from there fits ke.

Runny · 06/04/2017 09:09

Ive never been able to find my size (34 HH) in Primark.

tireddotcom72 · 06/04/2017 09:10

It's unreasonable that if you are larger chested you have no choice but to pay silly money for bras! Before high streets started the d+ ranges you could only get expensive bras I used to be annoyed my friends got underwear in Asda for £10 and I paid 3x as much. Bra companies should realise you can be small but still have boobs!

And no I'm not a troll my dd was born in 2003 in year 8 and as someone said last June she was 12 so a year later she is 13.

Please don't rule out pretty bikinis for your DD.

I am a F cup and find if I go for a tie up bikini like a halter neck that ties up at the top behind the neck and back I can get away with high street ones if they have no wire. Even the triangle ones from primark for £2. I buy size 10 bottoms and usually a 16/18 top but I need to try the tops on.

The beauty is as they are tie up the back size can be anything you want as long as the cups fit.

I bought 3 primark ones last year one white and two black. One as a proper bikini and the other 2 as cheap comfy halter bras.

I also buy peacocks comfort bras with the slim bra straps and they fit me as a F cup as they are super stretchy and a few pounds each.

Thank you to all the helpful people who have suggested where to look it's a morning of online shopping for us!

Well no, it's not really because when you have big boobs they need more support and more engineering goes into them. My 32F bras are real works of technology compared to my DD's 32B ones.

Dancergirl · 06/04/2017 09:14

You just have to suck it up unfortunately. Some children have awkward feet and need expensive shoes. At least you know you are buying her good bras which will provide proper support so worth the money IMO.

Would she consider a one-piece swimsuit rather than a bikini? There are some really nice ones around.

RhubarbGin · 06/04/2017 09:14

You need brastop.com they have pretty and teen friendly brands like Cleo (from Panache) starting at £15 ish and go from 28 bands up to H cups in most sizes.

please don't resent the price in front of her. It's not her fault, and she is already suffering from missing out on her friends' fashion. I hope she finds pretty things

misscarlar · 06/04/2017 09:15

It's the 28 that's the issue but the curvy Kate range in John Lewis do that size for around £20

MrsPnut · 06/04/2017 09:15

I went into Topshop recently to look at bras for my preteen and was amazed that they only start at a 32 back. No wonder people end up wearing the wrong size bra for years when a seller of teeny tiny clothing only has bras that begin when you get to size 12-14ish.

goose1964 · 06/04/2017 09:16

Primark bras don't support large boobs properly . Your problem is the 28 chest DD was 28DD for ages now she is a 32 things are a lot easier.Have a look at M&S

FreeWeezy · 06/04/2017 09:19

I just got some nice bras from brastop.com. They do a good range of sizes, there are lots of non-old-lady styles and there is usually a good selection on sale. Free exchanges too if the fit isn't right Smile

FerdinandsRevenge · 06/04/2017 09:19

If this is a troll it's a fairly boring one and knows a lot of the ins and outs of buying boring other bras Hmm Yanbu op, buy your kid a decent bra if you can afford them!

FerdinandsRevenge · 06/04/2017 09:20

"Primark go up to a G now"
Is no one's idea of sexy online chat.

catmumof1 · 06/04/2017 09:21

I second ASOS for bras and bikinis, they've just added lots of stuff to the sale so now is the time to take a look especially for rarer sizes like your DD.
Plus they do free shipping and returns - it's very addicting though, prepare to order bags of stuff every payday and only keep a couple of things Blush

chocaholic123 · 06/04/2017 09:22

Next do have bigger cup sizes, and a pack of 2 were something like £24 ish. I'm not sure of the back sized though sorry.

Creatureofthenight · 06/04/2017 09:22

M&S don't list any 28F on their website goose.

HalleLouja · 06/04/2017 09:23

Have not read the whole threads but My Curves and Me have some lovely bras though I think you may need to pay for returns.

HeadDreamer · 06/04/2017 09:23

I didn't think the OP is a troll either. It's no different to asking for advice buying other pieces of clothing for children.

WorraLiberty · 06/04/2017 09:23

If people really must troll hunt, why not advance search the OP beforehand?

They've been around for some time, and have never come across that way in the past.

OddBoots · 06/04/2017 09:27

I have a similar problem in terms of very large shoes for my teen DC, when sizing falls out of the main bell curve area the pricing leaps up.

Judydreamsofhorses · 06/04/2017 09:28

I don't have a large bust (32D) but like Freya underwear which is one of the brands Bravissimo sell. If you can get the size nailed, which I appreciate is hard if she is still growing, then you will find lots of outlet shops on eBay which sell last season's stock brand new. Just type the brand and size in as your search. I think the eBay shop I have bought a lot from is something like Belle Lingerie.
