To ask what these plants are?

So we have moved house and the garden has some plants which I think might be veg or edible in some way.... can anyone enlighten me?

Get rid of the Alkanet, it will take the over all your garden.
The one with little yellow flowers is Cowslip, lucky you.

5 is definitely cowslip. It isn't exactly edible but...
If you gently pull the yellow flower part you'll find it comes out of its holder with a sort of stalk attached. There is often a little ball at the end of the stalk. Take this out and nibble on the end of the stalk to taste the sweet nectar. I always found this fascinating as a kid.

1 - Poppy, but not hairy enough to be Oriental (Papaver)
2 - Columbine (Aquilegia vulgaris)
3 - (Ever)Green alkanet (Anchusa officinalis)
4 - Euphorbia (White irritant sap as advised by pp)
5 - Cowslip (Primula veris - not Primula vulgaris, that's primrose)
6 - Chickweed possibly but there is some Forget-me-not (Myosotis sylvatica) in the bottom right of the photo...

Give the cowslip a break, they are becoming so rare these days

I shall save the cowslip and the forget me nots.

There are a few cowslips out there. What is the best thing for them?

I used to eat cowslips like that as a kid!

I know nothing about gardening. But all of them, every one, look like weeds to me and I would have dug them all up and got rid asap!

4 - a weed, not edible

Wallflowers in my garden - look like 6.

My mum had to persuade me to buy them in the autumn as I thought they looked dead! I know nothing
