A good friend has a very eccentric distant relative who has no surviving close family. They are elderly and friend rarely seems them although they used to phone frequently

They are very, very well-off and own substantial property in the SE. Friend has suggested a few times that she hopes she will be the direct benefactor of this relative - and that they want to check on them that they are not bring financially ripped of by others (this didn't sound genuine, sounded more like friend wanted to sniff out the money)... they said if they didn't inherit it would just be inherited by "stupid people", insinuating that they deserved the money, having barely if ever met this relative!

Aibu to feel a bit incensed at this level of entitlement?!?!?

None of your business really, why would you care, odd.

Incensed or slightly envious?

It's up to the relative really who they wish to leave things to.
