Lost my much loved cat Scratch on 28th January but now her (can cats have a?) niece has a lovely black and white kitten who I am falling for. Needs to be unisex name dd1 likes "Badger" but DH and I think it doesn't suit. Mums name Fireball, Dads name Whiskey

I love the name Loki but I have dd's so never got the chance to use it on a human! I love Bertie for a little boy! Such a cute name!

SabineUndine · 01/04/2017 20:02

Greebo, after the cat in Terry Pratchett's books.

I think you need to call him Derek, Nigel or Graham. Go retro.

Having read Norse mythology, I wouldn't name a person after Loki. He wasn't just the god of 'mischief' but indulged in some pretty bad behaviour (though all the gods did). He conspires in the killing of Baldur and ends up captive with a serpent dripping poison onto him for a zillion years. His wife has to stand over him catching the poison in a bowl but when she empties it, the poison drips on him. Fun times!

Ahhh thanks whatshername. I know it's a bit marmite. We DID give him Albert on his BC, and it's a family name, so stand by it, despite the hatred it gets on MN q often.

We've also got a dog called Montgomery - Monty. I remain devastated we used that name on the dog and didn't save it for a DC! Blush

Love Smokey.

Also vote with DD on badger out of your three!

From your last post Kipper is best.

Or a place name - where is kitty from? Or means something to you? Milan, Yorkie, Morecambe, Wigan or street name?
