Lweji, a significant proportion of his voters, it seems, elected him on the 'America First' premise. They took this to mean that the US would become very insular in nature. No warmongering. No spending of money elsewhere. MAGA! To them, he is breaking a core promise. On Breitbart, some commenters were saying he could stand to lose 90% of his supporters. I think that's a bit steep, but it will be high.

I have a nasty feeling this was calculated to distract from Russiagate - and he felt he could soft-pedal it with his supporters. Just goes to show how out of touch he is with his own supporters.

A couple observations: Huge, international drama played out against backdrop of club members eating, drinking -- no idea what was going on.

I'm not completely sure Chinese knew entirely what was going on. Dinner was quick. Xi was gone when announcement made after a quick dinner.

Trump did not seem worried or concerned on plane ride down. Didn't seem like a man who knew he was about to launch missiles.

Trump's top aides Tillerson and HR McMaster seemed more comfortable explaining attacks. Talked for 20 minutes. Didn't do it on camera.

Trump read off the teleprompter, staring intently at it. Did not deviate from his words. Did not do usual hyperbole and speaking tics.
