To ask my employer to honour it (slightly lighthearted)

I work part time and just been notified of my annual pay award.

It appears that they have confused my FTE with my pro-rata salary, meaning ive had almost a 10% payrise instead of 2% as mentioned in the letter.

I'll be talking to HR/payroll on Monday, but I'm very tempted to tell them that as its in writing, I'm expecting them to honour it. After all, the figures would have been checked and then checked again, right?!

What are the chances of them saying "Of course Hello, not a problem" ???

I wouldn't say anything but don't spend it because if they eventually figure it out you'll have to pay it back month by month

They put 2% in writing but put through 10% on payroll? So you'd be asking them to honour the 2% ?

This happened at our work, the employee didn't say anything and it wasn't found out for nearly a year until a new manager questioned the payroll report one month. It was looked in to and although they didn't take back the over payments it showed the new manager about the morals and trust in the employee.

And not only the new manager but it also caused problems for the previous manager who had moved dept and people in the payroll team so to say the employee wasn't shown in vary good light is an understatement!

daily this happened in my work also and we just started deductions from their salary after notifying them of our intentions, giving them the choice to pay back the full amount instead but they didn't. As you say it made the management team look at them very differently as it would have been obvious they were being overpaid

our one said she didn't realise for a whole year. Dishonest and a liar.
I couldn't believe they didn't make her pay it back but they said it was our mistake in the first place

I once received an over payment of a bonus, my bank called me to ask if I wanted to move the £15k payment to a more secure account, it was meant to be £2k that was an interesting phone call into payroll.
