I'm going to have to put this in points due to the panic.

  1. My husband organised gardeners to cut down the overgrown bush at the end of the garden.
  1. Gardener cut bush but didn't realise he was also cutting the bushes belonging to garden behind.
  1. Neighbours behind have just sent us a letter suggesting court and assuming we did this on purpose.

Very good point about the bush will have grown by the time it goes to court. By next year we could be asking them to cut down their bush.

This is interesting- there is a conservation act which can prevent cutting bushes at certain times. Have a read and see if it applies?

What are they expecting a court to do? Award them damages for the loss of a foot of hedge? I would ignore the letter.

Ohyesiam · 30/03/2017 22:06

So your gardener pruned their hedge for them, and they want to take you to court?
The are either very bored( and loaded) or are livid about something, and have decided to direct it at you ( while being loaded).
Either was they are being silly, unreasonable, and way OTT.

OP, were the parts of the neighbours bush cut, on your side of the boundary or theirs?

LucieLucie · 30/03/2017 22:34

Oh fgs just water it twice a day with Miracle Grow Wink

The bush was cut on both sides of the boundaries but they are much higher than we are. We take 4 feet, they lose 1 foot.

My neighbours friend did this to us. I have no clue how as the bush was a good couple of feet away from the fence. My very nice neighbour came round and I was all 'no worries, what's a bit of bush?' Then I actually looked at it Shock DH was most put out but what can you do? Glue it back on? I didn't sue plus I am sure my cat craps in her garden Blush

If you've spoken to them they are nutters. Shock
