I was at primary school in the early 90s. I don't remember any lunchbox police at all. For years I took in coleslaw sandwiches (I can't stand coleslaw now), a flask of orange squash, a packet of crisps and a kitkat.

70/80s - a cheese sandwich, or dairylea and marmite, sometimes fish paste.
Packet of crisps.
KitKat or similar.
Plastic bottle of squash.

LordTrash · 30/03/2017 23:35

There was a girl who always used to have raw carrot or celery as part of her lunch and I felt dead sorry for her.

ClementineWardrobe · 30/03/2017 23:36

I love sandwich spread, had it in a chicken sandwich a few days ago. At school, packed lunch was usually cheese or Ham sandwich, carton of juice, penguin bar, apple or Clementine. Small raisin box occasionally, sometimes gold bar instead of penguin. Capri Sun in later years. 80s child.

ShockedWithKnobsOn · 30/03/2017 23:47

Cheese, jam or banana sandwich on white (can't remember sliced brown, only homemade soda), couple of custard cream biscuits, squash.

Lionking1981 · 30/03/2017 23:58

Those of you who took banana sandwiches, how were your sandwiches by lunchtime? I still remember going on a trip to the tower of London and we were so excited planning our lunches. One little boy kept going on and on about the banana sarnie he was going to enjoy. I still remember him unwrapping it, completely brown and inedible and him sobbing for the rest of the trip. At that time, I unusually felt thankful for that old faithful salmon paste sandwich.

Sandwich drink and yoghurt. Never had crisps or chocolate. 1980s/90s

Early 90s in Florida , A PB and J or peanut butter and jelly sandwich or just jam or some other lunch meat and cheese, sliced fruit or a fruit cup, babybel cheese, a carton of juice and probably some Oreos or Hersheys kisses. Of all things I cannot remember it's the treats in my lunchbox!

FurCoatAndNaeKnickers · 31/03/2017 01:52

Early 00s -
Jam sandwich
Pepparami
Penguin biscuit
Cereal bar
Carton of Apple juice

ambereeree · 31/03/2017 01:56

Late 80s early 90s- cheese and salad sandwich apple/pear and banana. Ribena in a flask or milk. Sometimes a penguin or club bar...it was a special treat. I still eat the same now for lunch.

Nakedavenger74 · 31/03/2017 02:07

Ski yoghurt
Dairylea slice

Squash in a thermos

bbpp · 31/03/2017 03:06

00's

Typically:
Tuna & Sweetcorn/ Coronation Chicken sandwich
Raisins
Satsuma/Banana/Apple
Yogurt
Kit-Kat/Club/ Penguin biscuit
Occasionally a Babybell/cheese-string (though I hate cheese Hmm so this would always be given away)
Apple juice carton or Capri-sun

Greatwhiteworld · 31/03/2017 03:17

Cheese & marmite sandwich
2 lots of marmite crackers (I did like marmite)
Piece of fruit
Squash
Once a month we had a penguin as a treat after The Monthly Shop. Never crisps.
I wish DD liked marmite - would make life so much easier Grin

EmilyAlice · 31/03/2017 05:27

1950s marmite sandwiches and apple.

lizzieoak · 31/03/2017 06:05

1970's - thermos of soup which I never ate or a bologna sandwich + a penguin bar or wagon wheel (horrible round water w chocolate over top).

My dear mum was the worst cook in the world, it's a wonder I survived.

Bohemond · 31/03/2017 06:12

Purple! thanks for the reminder about jelly squares. Everyone had them at my school for about a year. Apparently a good source of iron (and there were no vegetarians in those days Grin)

lizzieoak · 31/03/2017 06:15

Round wafer, not water. Now my phone admits that wafer is a word, a minute ago, not so much.

IndigoApple · 31/03/2017 06:33

Primary school in the 70s/early 80s and it was either school dinners or home for lunch. Until P7 when pack lunches started to be allowed. My friend and I were allowed to take a pot noodle Shock Confused, and a flask of boiling water! Didn't do it often as they were expensive!

At secondary school I almost always went home but had school dinners a couple of times when they started a new cafeteria system. I remember getting chips, a milkshake in a paper cup (Crusha!) and some tablet (made by HE dept) for my 55p dinner money Smile.

countrygirl55 · 31/03/2017 06:37

Sandwich (mostly silver skin pickled onions for primary which poor mum sliced and I probably smelled like death all afternoon), dairylea triangle, satsuma and 20p for a pudding from the trolley (usually chose a jelly or butterscotch angel delight). Orange, lemon and pineapple squash in my flask.

countrygirl55 · 31/03/2017 06:38

Sorry; mid-late 80s

EccentricPickle · 31/03/2017 06:41

I had:

A packet of crisps (for morning break)

A flask of squash, either orange or black currant
Either a corned beef sandwich or cheese spread sandwich.
A yoghurt
A chocolate biscuit

I can't remember if there was anything else. Maybe a peperami occasionally? I was a really slow eater and was always last to play out - I used to drive the dinner ladies mad. It was probably best if I didn't have much as I was never hungry anyway. I hated having to eat lunch. The total opposite to now! Grin

EccentricPickle · 31/03/2017 06:47

Btw, that was probably from 1989 - 1995. Had the same pretty much every day.
