To think that the word 'tits' (as in 'breasts') is a little too vulgar ?

I'm quite prepared to be told I'm being prudish or precious on this subject. For years I've been uncomfortable using the word and so I don't. Fair enough. But plenty of people I know say tits without reservation in ordinary conversation, regardless of company and it just grates with me. I'd be surprised if many people outside the medical or lingerie businesses, for example, routinely say breasts. And there's a few less offensive breast pseudonyms such as boobs and bosoms which I'm happier with. Similarly, when people refer to a penis as a cock - I really can't stand that. Of the alternatives, I've yet to make up my mind which is the least worst between willy and knob.

What do you think ? Am I over-thinking this ? BTW, I am male, mid-forties.

I don't care what grown adults call them but yes, I'd not be impressed a 3 year old calling them that.

Cock just makes me think of a porno movie or something, can't take it too seriously.

FeralBeryl · 30/03/2017 14:32

I hate the word 'breast'

It's up there with 'moist' etc for me so it's boobs in this house, Tits if I'm feeling lairy.

Sallystyle · 30/03/2017 14:34

Tits is only ever used when we are getting carried away with sex and being vulgar is kind of fun.

Otherwise it's boobs.

Tits is definitely vulgar and it's just a horrible word.

Fizzball · 30/03/2017 14:36

I don't mind tits. Though I wouldn't let my 6 year old say it and I wouldn't say it at work I don't mind if other people say it. Generally I call them boobs or breasts. Sometimes I say bazoomas or nunga-nungas if I'm being silly.

Todger has to be the worst word in existence. Sometimes my DH whispers "moist todger" in my ear just to make me cringe and feel a bit sick!

Sample1936 · 30/03/2017 14:38

It is vulgar but it depends on the audience and context.

stevie69 · 30/03/2017 14:39

My terminology varies, depending on whom I'm in conversation with and, er, what the 'situation' is IYSWIM Blush

Fizzball · 30/03/2017 14:39

Also I'd only use cock if I was talking dirty. It weirds me out a bit if I hear it in general conversation. Dick is usually used as an insult.

tanfield90 · 30/03/2017 14:43

Mum. Yes I am confused, hence the question. It's certainly got lots of people talking.

Tits is a lovely word - it's all bouncy and jolly. Boob is nauseating- or that horrible phrase 'boob monster'.
Breast is very mature- and sounds all Gareth Marenghi if used in an intimate setting.

SarcasmMode · 30/03/2017 15:34

Yes I like the word tits but don't use it unless with DH.

I normally say breasts - boobs makes me think of something teenage boys say but I do call it a boob when feeding DD2 - but if discussing the body part I'd say breast to most people.

DH has called them all sorts in the past. A small list includes; baps, bags, the girls, handles etc. All in jest of course.

rubbishdaisy · 30/03/2017 15:36

I'm in my mid-20s and I feel the EXACT same. Mortified at most of those words - can deal with "dick" and can let "boobs" slide but I'll be dying inside at everything else. Bazookas made me Grin

floraeasy · 30/03/2017 15:44

Viz Roger's Profanisaurus

Sweater Puppets n. Fondleberries Particularly animated breasts that keep a fellow entertained. Milky swingers

^^ could be worse!

OllyBJolly · 30/03/2017 15:54

I keep saying "bellend

I'm 55, been married twice, and had possibly more than my fair share of lovers.

I have only now realised what a bell end is thanks to your post dearlittleflo

I hate the description "funbags". It's awful.

Adult language here. My DP finds it hilarious that I say penis. Too long spent working on sexual offences, I stick to clinical or at least audience-appropriate names for body parts (i.e. reflecting the words used by the person I'm talking to).

Boooooom · 30/03/2017 16:01

Tits...fine
Titties...gross

AmysTiara · 30/03/2017 16:04

Breasts sounds like a biology teacher.

Tits doesn't bother me but funbags is horrible.

Laiste · 30/03/2017 16:08

It's 'norks' from DH.

(and ''boobies'' from DD4 (just 3) Grin)

runforthesun · 30/03/2017 16:16

My dh uses Bristols sometimes but always spoken in a dodgy south west accent.

floraeasy · 30/03/2017 16:29

LOL!

claraschu · 30/03/2017 16:37

I hate the word boobs; it seems much more vulgar than tits. I think tits seems like little providers of milk, kind of like teats for an animal, so kind of innocent to me.

I can't bear to say the work cock.

I don't care at all what anyone else says.

Justmuddlingalong · 30/03/2017 16:37

Boobs still reminds me of being at school at typing 80085 in my calculator. Grin

Justmuddlingalong · 30/03/2017 16:38

*and obviously

floraeasy · 30/03/2017 16:39

Oh my word, yes muddling - innocent and happy times Grin

fruityb · 30/03/2017 16:39

I love the word tits. And knockers, bazungas and boobies. But then I am quite immature at times lol
