Oh so I am not allowed to be upset that I will be unemployed - I'm glad that you are happy at my misfortune

Roystonv · 28/03/2017 21:09

Pissed off cos despite all the should we shouldn't we stay what really scares me is the fact no-one knows how to leave, how long it will take, how much it will cost (millions will be spent that we could spend on the country and many will live the high life in meetings/hotels etc) and no idea if it will be worth it for a long time to come. Like entering a war really.

Gutted. Resigned, and fearful (about the economic, social and regulatory impacts).

One sentence rather than one word Smile

Goodness, some really nasty attitudes being expressed on this thread.

I genuinely feel sorry for people who say they are proud to be British (or French or whatever nationality).

It signals to me that they have little to be proud of in real life and that an abstract notion of belonging to a made up, subjective and non-measurable idea of Englishness (feel free to replace with Frenchness, Germaneness, Americanness) is all they get their self esteem from.

My life is fab thanks and I have plenty of things to be proud of and other sources of self-esteem.

Englishness isn't even a thing, it doesn't exist. It's a romantic notion of wooly identity. It's so dated

It's someone who was born in or lives in England and has made their life here.

I've never understood this thing that everyone else's culture and history is to be celebrated and promoted, except the English. Weird.

WrongTrouser: "I'm proud to be English and British and I'm looking forward to us being able to control our own country's future again."

^^ Totally agree, roll on being able to control our own laws with no EU meddling!

Get real, if you want to manufacture anything and sell it in the EU it will have to comply to EU regulations.

If you want to manufacture Cornish Pasties or Melton Mobery pies this might be good news, as their EU protection will disappear, of course you will then have to compete with Cornish Pasties made in Belgium.

Are you looking forward to maternity and paternity leave disappearing? Sex discrimination act? Employee rights?

Eh? Our maternity leave is far in excess of the EU minimum Confused

"At 52 weeks, UK maternity leave is some of the best in Europe. The statutory minimum under EU law is 14 weeks"
