www.standard.co.uk/news/london/stoke-newington-florist-sells-sticks-for-up-to-18-despite-being-minutes-from-park-a3498961.html

Basically a florists in Stoke Newington is selling sticks for between £12 and £18.

And people buy them.

I am currently eyeing up the log pile in our garden and wondering how much we can get for them.

Does anyone actually pay out for this stuff? Are people really that bloody gullible?

Come on. Own up, someone must be buying these sticks!

What - the dreaded Mumsnet "Twiggy shit". Action must be taken. Boycott those twigs.

SaucyJack · 28/03/2017 09:55

Do you want to talk us through the process in a bit more detail Rufus?

Lapinlapin · 28/03/2017 09:56

Well we've not only got sticks here, we also have a growing collection of stones, leaves and rusty screws.

I could be rich!

I think you are all jealous.
You don't know culture when you see it.
Suburban Mommy Plebs.

I would link to my blog about opening of the E17 Artisan Stick Salon but you are NOT WORTHY OF MY WORDS.

People laughed at Peddlers selling sawn off logs with the end painted neon but are they laughing now?
ARE THEY?

I certainly can saucy Grin

Ds2 was also an avid stick collector

In year 7 he dragged a stick twice as long as him all the way home while still in his school blazer...it must have been funny to see

He dragged it through the hall and told me he was putting it in the garden, i pointed out that daddy would burn it...his poor little face

We put a rack up in his bedroom to hold the most precious sticks

And then in November i saw a varnished stick, obviously supposed to be a walking stick

So i bought it and wrapped it up as a Christmas present cos i thought it would be funny

I dont do handmade Wink

I might get one for the dog's birthday. He deserves something special.

AwaywiththePixies27 · 28/03/2017 14:21

£18? Why didnt I think of this when I recently walked by a load of chopped down trees at the side of the road? Wink

I thought it'd make excellent free firewood though.

Yes i think he did appreciate it

We went on our Christmas day walk and he looked like a little old man

And its still in the rack two years later

He is a bit puppy like to be fair

Hoppinggreen · 28/03/2017 16:44

The council recently cut down a huge tree in the woods at the bottom of our garden and just left it there.
I'm telling DH to get down there with his wheelbarrow - we will be bloody loaded!!
As they come from the woods I intend to market them as " free range" ( and hoik up the price)

Yellowiceytek · 28/03/2017 22:04

Who said stick?

£18 for a fucking stick?
VestalVirgin · 28/03/2017 22:09

On a serious note, I think it's obscene that there are people needing help from food banks while others are paying £18 for a stick. Is it me or has the world gone mad!

You know, actually that would be quite okay, if the people needing help from food banks were the ones selling the sticks.

That would be perfect.

RJnomore1 · 28/03/2017 22:10

Did you all miss the empty jam jars? I'm sitting on a fortune!

SailAwaySailAwaySailAway · 28/03/2017 22:17

There are sticks and there are sticks.

Those Stoke Newington sticks are shite though.

This thread is excellent. It'll definitely stick in my mind.

I didn't hear it, but I heard that Radio 2's Jeremy Vine was talking about this today!
