Who is BU?

I'm posting this as I disagree with a friend, who told me something that happened to them last week (I won't say which person in the story the friend is) and it got me thinking - who is BU?
It doesn't really matter, as I didn't feel the need to voice my opinion and risk an argument with a dear friend,although I'd be interested to hear the opinions of others.
Last week, a class of 10 year olds went on a school trip and each child was responsible for their belongings (coat and lunch bag, basically). After the trip was over, at home time, child said they'd left their lunch bag at the visit site. The teacher phoned where they'd visited and yes, it was there.
Whose responsibility is it to collect the bag? The teacher or parent? If it matters, the visit site is about half an hour's drive away.

I'd say the parent is now, but it was the teacher's responsibility to ensure that all children had their belongings while lining up for the coach home.

Screwin at 10 it was the child's job not to lose their stuff. The teacher is responsible for the child, not the child's junk.

Anyone who thinks it's the teachers has clearly never been responsible for 30 children on a trip!

Ten year olds are more than old enough to take responsibility for their own things without constant nagging.

Parent. But unless it was a particularly special lunch bag I probably wouldn't bother. They're only a few quid and the cost of peteol will make it hardly worth it.
