I tried an experiment today and didnt want to mention it (and get slated) until i knew the results.
My ds does ballet (has done since 4 months) and tap. He has been enjoying the new class he is now in but not settled. Well we know why and did something about it.

He wants to be like all the others in the class.

And so he was and loved every minute. It was a fight to change him out of it.

There was comments made by older children but parents pulled them up and even credited us for it.

Not one person batted an eye in iceland or homebase.

My son is a boy through and through but want to be one of the class.

Strange.

I'm just place marking for the Lolz Grin

WorraLiberty · 25/03/2017 16:04

I'm still not getting it.

So you took him to the supermarket, a DIY store and a dance class wearing a dress?

Is that it?

WowserBowser · 25/03/2017 16:04

He's very cute

Scoose · 25/03/2017 16:05

Why would you post a picture of your kids to random strangers? and also who gives a shit? Dress your child however you want its none of our business Confused

doublesnap · 25/03/2017 16:06

It's uncanny just how much he looks like a girl.
As for since - yes, lots of non-native speakers use since instead of for, it's not that different to saying your age in French - I have 21 years instead I am 21 years old.

WorraLiberty · 25/03/2017 16:07

I'm also not sure what 'nobody batted an eyelid' means?

Do you mean no-one approached you and mentioned it? Or that you didn't overhear anyone commenting on it?

I don't imagine they would really, as your son looks very much like a girl.

And even if he didn't, surely most people would just assume he's been at the dressing up box?

doublesnap · 25/03/2017 16:08

Worra I guess he's just not the masculine type.

MaryPoppinsPenguins · 25/03/2017 16:08

This is a very confusing thread...

Soubriquet · 25/03/2017 16:09

No one would have said anything because they would have assumed he was a girl

I certainly would.

I'm surprised you let him wear the ballet uniform out and about no matter what sex he is tbh.

My daughters is removed as soon as she is home (we come straight home) so it doesn't get dirty or damaged

WorraLiberty · 25/03/2017 16:09

He's a very young child. I doubt he has a 'type' really.

MrsGB2225 · 25/03/2017 16:09

TBH with the Blonde curls, people probably thought he was a girl.

He probably has the type that his mother/father/parents encourage him to have.

ShuttyTown · 25/03/2017 16:12

FFS. You're expecting a pat on the back coz you let your son wear a dress therefore making you sooooo throughly 'modern thinking'..? Bore off. He looks like a girl because of his long hair in the dress so no one would have thought anything of it!

steff13 · 25/03/2017 16:13

Yeah, if I saw him out in public I'd have thought he was a girl.

How does a 4 month old do ballet?

pigsDOfly · 25/03/2017 16:14

Think most people, those that would even notice a small child, would assume that were looking at a little girl.

From the tone of the post, OP is obviously feeling very daring to have done this and wants everyone to say so.

Can't see why, not as if he's got a large beard and a hairy chest.

GahBuggerit · 25/03/2017 16:14

No one batted an eyelid because he looks like a girl

No one would have batted an eyelid if he had a crew cut though

Your point?

Oakmaiden · 25/03/2017 16:15

He looks lovely.

Just make sure you let him choose what to wear on a weekly basis - so if he wants to start wearing the more usual leotard and shorts then he can with no fussing.

GahBuggerit · 25/03/2017 16:16

But if he's doing it to fit in what a perfect, yet missed, opportunity to teach him that not looking the same is just fine

steff13 · 25/03/2017 16:16

My daughter's ballet teacher would never let them wear that in class. She's a former professional and very by the book - black or pink leotard, black or pink shoes, pink or nude tights, and no underwear under the leotard.

Mummyoflittledragon · 25/03/2017 16:17

I would assume he was a girl. If he's happy in the clothes, it's fine.

Sunnysky2016 · 25/03/2017 16:18

And the point is what????

GeorgeTheHamster · 25/03/2017 16:18

There's no way you will get funny looks unless you give him a short back and sides type haircut, he just looks like a small girl instead of a small boy for now.

Soubriquet · 25/03/2017 16:18

Yeah my Dd's uniform is pink leotard, pink tights, pink floaty skirt thing and a pink wrap around cardigan with pink shoes
