Sorry. That sounded as if I meant it was good because I was having time off whereas I really meant that it must be good as I was having time off. Grin I'll turn to Ginyet before this is done.

cozietoesie · 24/03/2017 23:53

Lweji

You know he won't care. It's all down to the Democrats in his eyes. All of it. Everything that goes wrong.

AcrossthePond55 · 25/03/2017 00:06

Enjoy your time off AND your Gin, cozie. A little relaxation never hurt anyone!

smashed It's very good! As far as the fines, Trump's Executive Order authorized agencies (in this case he means the IRS) to waive fines and penalties for not having insurance. These fines are an incentive for people to enroll in an insurance plan. It's going to be up to the various agencies as to whether or not they actually do waive them. Congress does have the ability to override an Executive Order, but I doubt very much they'll do so

To an extent, the individual mandate (which IS still law) is what will help pay for the ACA because it requires people who don't use healthcare a great deal to enroll and pay premiums. Their premium payments and low usage help balance out the higher usage of other insured individuals. Without the fines, it's highly likely that many people won't enroll.

cozietoesie · 25/03/2017 00:11

That's good. Smile

cozietoesie · 25/03/2017 00:28

Goodness, Across. I better not go for Gin right now - I might get the big bible out and start quoting from Revelation! Grin

SanFranBear · 25/03/2017 00:29

Yay - although wtf he's going on about everything being the fault of the Democrats is just beyond me.. he's cracked!

Oh, and MsHooley - I am seriously considering the MN meet up.. do you have the details or point me where to find them as I've never been to one before Smile

AcrossthePond55 · 25/03/2017 00:42

cozie I think this would be more in keeping with the situation than Revelations;

cozietoesie · 25/03/2017 00:43

It's a version of 'l'état, c'est moi',San.

Except in this case it's 'le GOP, c'est moi'. A sort of 'I can't be wrong and the GOP are my party so they can't be wrong. Therefore it's the Democrats' fault.' (Whatever 'it' may be.)

cozietoesie · 25/03/2017 00:47

I'd never seen that. Grin

The SenatorMenendez tweet just kills. Love it!

TheClaws · 25/03/2017 01:17

Well, that was interesting! Thanks for all the updates. I love the spin Trump has put on this: the Democrats will come to him to fix the mess - him, the ultimate, mess-fixer of the world. I would love to have his balls. (Not really, ugh, but I'm more of a worrier type of person.)

Roussette, going back to your comments about Trump being scared of Obama, I think it's that and more - he is actually in awe of Obama, I feel. Deep down, he knows Obama was a great President, and he will never reach the same standard.

FantasticButtocks · 25/03/2017 01:23

Sorry, should have said article is from July 2016 in The New Yorker.

Lweji · 25/03/2017 01:27

Meanwhile, has that amazing fool proof anti-ISIS plan slipped quietly into a whimper?

Trump’s ISIS Plan, as Described by Tillerson, Sounds Like Obama’s

But with dreadful consequences:

"In Africa, President Trump is expected to soon approve a Pentagon proposal to remove constraints on Special Operations airstrikes and raids in parts of Somalia to target suspected militants with the Shabab, an extremist group linked to Al Qaeda. Critics say that the change — in one of the few rejections of President Barack Obama’s guidelines for the elite forces — would bypass rules that seek to prevent civilian deaths from drone attacks and commando operations."

Apparently already in place at Mosul.

MsHooliesCardigan · 25/03/2017 01:52

San I have PM'ed you about the meet up.

TheClaws · 25/03/2017 02:10

Breitbart is gunning for Ryan, also mentioning Reince Priebus as maybe collateral damage.

TrueBlueDem · 25/03/2017 02:33

I missed a lot of the thread today but yeay I am so happy and relieved today! :) Still gonna be a fight but so freaking relieved that Obamacare is still in place! :)))

Yep the Rethugs are starting to turn on one another..it's gonna be the Hunger Games.

Totally agree with you Claws about Obama.

TrueBlueDem · 25/03/2017 02:40

Is anyone here French or live in France and know a lot about their upcoming election? I have read a lot about LePen, and Monday's debate (heard Macron did very well), but wanted to ask someone from the inside, do you think LePen has a chance? I'm not familiar with France's election process. LePen is supposedly cozy with Putin too. I would think that Europe is looking at us here in the US as a warning of what disaster could happen...I'm assuming the French are way too smart to let LePen happen, unless the bigotry and fear is stoked high enough? What do you guys think?

Senator Bob Menendez ✔ @SenatorMenendez
Hey Republicans, don't worry, that burn is covered under the Affordable Care Act

Roussette · 25/03/2017 05:58

Claws I totally agree. He is in awe of Obama and he absolutely loathes him. He hates how popular he was and is. Add that to his deep seated insecurity and desperation to be loved and it's a heady mix! in a vile way!

I wonder if he's every had any counselling or therapy, he would be a dream for Dr Antony Clare's "In the psychiatrist's Chair" a Radio 4 programme. That programme opens up a person like no other.

Re the healthcare bill, He's into the blame game isn't he? It's a very clever message he gives out... it's all the Democrats fault. What about his own party who voted against him? I've scoured the news and there is not one mention of that. Also... I read somewhere... people are far more fearful of loss than they are positive about gain. And many people were going to lose out.

Loved this tweet!
Noah Kinsey @thenoahkinsey
The GOP canceled the healthcare bill before the House voted.

Seems fitting, as the only birth control their plan covered was pulling out.
