Russia and corruption, remember. Smile

OnTheDarkSideOfTheSpoon · 24/03/2017 22:18

Some excerpts:

"The Democrats, he said, were to blame.

“We couldn’t get one Democratic vote, and we were a little bit shy, very little, but it was still a little bit shy, so we pulled it,” Trump said."

"“As you know, I’ve been saying for years that the best thing is to let Obamacare explode and then go make a deal with the Democrats and have one unified deal. And they will come to us; we won’t have to come to them,” he said. “After Obamacare explodes.”

“The beauty,” Trump continued, “is that they own Obamacare. So when it explodes, they come to us, and we make one beautiful deal for the people.”"

"“I never said I was going to repeal and replace in the first 61 days” — contradicting his own statements and that of his own adviser, Kellyanne Conway, who told CNN in November that the then-president-elect was contemplating convening a special session on Inauguration Day to begin the process of repealing the Affordable Care Act."

"“Hey, we could have done this,” he said. “But we couldn’t get one Democrat vote, not one. So that means they own Obamacare and when that explodes, they will come to us wanting to save whatever is left, and we’ll make a real deal.”"

" “I’m a team player, but I’ve also said the best thing politically is to let Obamacare explode.”"

"“I’ll fix it as it explodes,” he said. “They’re going to come to ask for help. They’re going to have to. Here’s the good news: Health care is now totally the property of the Democrats.”

Speaking of premium increases, he continued: “When people get a 200 percent increase next year or a 100 percent or 70 percent, that’s their fault.”

Trump returned again to a partisan line on the turn of events.

“To be honest, the biggest losers today are Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer,” Trump said of the House minority leader and the Senate minority leader. “Because now they own the disaster known as Obamacare.”"

I have two suggestions for Trump.

Plan B - ask what would Putin do. Maybe not the most vital plan, as many "ideas" might end up with an early death.

Plan C - ask the Democrats for help. Now, who could they enlist that knows the Bill well and likes to explain things in detail? Hmm You know, once you go Obamacare you never want to go back.

From Fox

www.foxnews.com/politics/2017/03/24/trump-blames-democrats-for-gop-health-care-bill-failure-says-obamacare-is-imploding.html

President Trump said Friday the White House “learned a lot about loyalty and the vote-getting process” following the dramatic failure of a Republican-backed bill that would have made good on a campaign promise to repeal and replace ObamaCare.

Trump said House Republicans were 10 to 15 votes shy of getting the bill passed and blamed the defeat on Democrats. House Speaker Paul Ryan pulled the bill minutes before a vote was to take place as it became apparent there was not enough support for passage. Democrats were united against it, and a conservative bloc of Republicans were unmoved by 11th-hour negotiations.

“We had no Democratic support,” Trump said from the Oval Office. “They weren’t going to give us a single vote.”

The president added that the “best thing we can do, politically speaking, is let ObamaCare explode. It’s exploding right now… Almost all states have big problems.”

Trump claimed he never said he would “repeal and replace [ObamaCare] within 64 days,” though he repeatedly promised during the campaign he’d do it on Day One

He forgets this is not business nor a competition. He's serving the American people.
Whatever happens to people's healthcare it's on his head and of GOP.
It's real people he's failing. Not that he ever cared...

cozietoesie · 24/03/2017 22:41

What did the previous incumbent say? 'Not fit to serve'?

AcrossthePond55 · 24/03/2017 22:47

Still Grin ing, but also looking to the next battle.

www.cnbc.com/2017/03/24/trump-says-republicans-will-probably-work-on-tax-reform-now.html

So, his next 'big deal' will be 'tax reform'. And he's going to have a plan before Congress in August. Oh boy. That's going to be interesting. How is he going to 'sell' lower taxes for the rich and for corporations to his fanbase? That's not going to play well in Flyover Country during a midterm election season.

cozietoesie · 24/03/2017 22:48

I wonder what 'artistes' will be performing at the Easter Egg Roll? The website seems to focus on previous years. Wink

cozietoesie · 24/03/2017 22:50

He just won't mention it, Across. Wink

AcrossthePond55 · 24/03/2017 22:52

He's serving the American people.

Lweji, I don't think he understands the meaning of that word other than it's what other people are supposed to do for him. You know, servants.

AcrossthePond55 · 24/03/2017 22:53

You're probably right cozie, and they're so enamored of him that they won't think to ask what's in it for the 'regular guy'. They'll just keep on drinking that Kool-Aid.

Lweji · 24/03/2017 22:56

No, he doesn't understand the concept of service.

@CNN
Sen. Chuck Schumer: "If you're a real president, you care about people's suffering" t.co/UYpqI3w42L t.co/gvrJxT6JsC

Good luck to GOP.

cozietoesie · 24/03/2017 22:57

Not entirely so, I reckon. He'll make much of what it means for 'regular guys' - just won't mention anyone else. The former is all they'll hear. (And if it doesn't show in their check, they'll say nowt, likely.)

smashedinductionhob · 24/03/2017 23:02

Can someone tell me is what happened today good? I thought Trump had already undermined Obamacare so it doesn't wrk as well as it should -something about removing fines?

saffronwblue · 24/03/2017 23:11

He has never understood the concept of service. He thinks being President is about rallies, attention and his family milking it for all they can.

cozietoesie · 24/03/2017 23:38

For myself, I'm pleased that the House has discovered it can say No - for whatever reason. The obverse? 45 will darned sure try to make certain that the ACA doesn't work in its current form. Out of vindictiveness if nothing else.
I'm also concerned that - this being a person who develops idées fixes - he'll find some other thing to pursue. Which will satisfy him but no-one else.

yolofish · 24/03/2017 23:40

just the yugest placemark. I dont comment often, but I read... I think today has been a gooooooood day, maybe the best day since the inauguration?

cozietoesie · 24/03/2017 23:44

Well tonight, I'm having time off - so I suppose it is. Tomorrow it's back to Russia and corruption. Wink

Lweji · 24/03/2017 23:49

I mentioned it earlier.

Trump issues executive order to start rolling back Obamacare
edition.cnn.com/2017/01/20/politics/trump-signs-executive-order-on-obamacare/

Same day of taking office.

Regardless, it's on him. He signed the order and there is no alternative.
Even if Obamacare is doomed to fail, there's a new administration responsible for fixing it.
