AIBU to send DS into school wearing this masterpiece for comic relief?

My DS (4) has crazy hat day tomorrow for comic relief and I thought I'd be inventive and make him a paper mache volcano hat. Tinsel to be added to create a lava effect, and red paint also will be added for lava streams etc, and another coat of the brown paint but I'm slightly worried about the current effect. Does anyone else think that it looks slightly.....suspect???

Should I go back to the drawing board while I still have time and credibility?

My son had to do crazy hair day at nursery. He already has masses of blonde curls which random old women love to touch and comment on. I hairsprayed it so it stuck up but didn't make it much crazier than usual so had the "bright idea" of running blue food colouring through it. Problem is it's a bugger to get off and we're at my Nanna's 90th tomorrow so he's going to fit in with the blue rinse brigade and be fussed over even more if it won't come out!
