Bit of an odd one! Where can you get a blood pressure check?

I'm a fairly hefty woman, have in the past had worries about blood pressure, upon a 24 hour check. All seemed well.

I have been better with my eating until it all slipped back again.

Well, past week or so I've been feeling quite dizzy, mega headaches, a bit confused and waking up with nosebleeds.

MIL has said it sounds like high blood pressure.

I'm now concerned I might just fall down dead. Drs say they can't fit me in and I must go through 111.

Where else can I turn for a blood pressure check?

Some chemists offer a service. Lloyds pharmacy maybe? Practice nurse at gp

Boots do go in and Ask to speak to the pharmacist

You can buy blood pressure machines quite cheaply these days and they're pretty accurate- Lloyds do cheap ones.

Just to add: if you decide to buy a machine, make sure the cuff size is large enough. I'm pretty hefty, too.

Most go surgeries have one in the reception waiting area that you can do yourself

I have never seen a blood pressure monitor in a gp waiting area. I also have one at home with a large cuff for my fat upper arm

You can buy your own or my Dr's has one in reception. If you need an appointment though then make one - you don't have to tell the receptionist what it's about.

Tesco pharmacy does it for free!

Also don't be surprised if it's a bit high - mine is always loads lower at home!

Chemist or buy one online (Amazon). But don't eat beforehand, don't do anything remotely energetic, & go to the toilet first (seriously). And mine is lower at home too - I get way too stressed even in the chemist!

I went to lloyds! My blood pressure was very high, the drs decided to get me an emergency appt when I told them my blood pressure reading!

Drs confirmed it was high and I'm now just going into boots to collect my prescription.

Been a bit of an afternoon!

My GP surgery has one that you can walk in and use (you can then give the print off in to reception if you want it added to your medical records).

We don't have one in our GP surgery. Sounds like a good idea though.

I had mine done at an Asda pharmacy a couple of years ago. I think most pharmacies attached to large supermarkets offer this service for free. Look up the phone number of your nearest big supermarket with a pharmacy and ask if they offer this. You may have to make an appointment (I did) but they can usually fit you in within a couple of days (mine did). Alternatively,I am pretty sure Lloyds pharmacy also offers this service.

I've got iCare downloaded and it seems to work OK

Talk in peace. I've downloaded the app. It's cool, but saying my blood pressure is the middle of normal range which isn't true!

Though it did pick up on me being irritable!

My blood pressure reading in the Drs and at lloyds were 170/104 and 160/104.

Hopefully the tablets will help!

I have low / normal blood pressure and it seems to be agreeing with the doctors numbers

Please go and see a pharmacist and tell them your symptoms, if they think it is your blood pressure they will take it but if they are not sure they will then advice you to seek further medical help
