Judgemental mothers at playgroup

Took dd to playgroup this morning. She is 2.5 and not toilet trained yet - tried and she isn't ready. Went to change her nappy and another mum gave a disapproving look and asked how old she was. I told her and her response was 'wow she's a big 2 year old' plus judgemental bitchy look.

AIBU to think she should mind her own fucking business?

YANBU. It's not unusual for a 2,5 year old not to be ready to be toilet trained. I'd much rather keep them in nappies than doing what some people do and just take them out of nappies at 2 and have months of multiple daily accidents and not being able to go anywhere within two feet of a loo.

I think most normal people can pick up when someone's giving us a judgy or bitchy look. It's fairly obvious. In an ideal world we wouldn't care what anyone thinks about us. In reality most people are sensitive particularly about their kids and if someone is judgemental it hurts your feelings.

It's definitely judgmental and not judgemental.

Porpoiselife · 21/03/2017 16:34

What makes you think 'the look' was over her not being toilet trained? she said your child was big, perhaps she was referring to your child's weight, did she have a skinny baby? Some people can be a bit judgy if they think another baby is 'fat' . Not that I'm saying your is!

There are two ways to spell judgemental/judgmental. Both are in the dictionary!

Eliza22 · 21/03/2017 16:45

Yanbu. She probably spends all her time telling others how the sun shines out of her childs' arse. Ignore it. Ignore her. I used to get that kind of stuff all the time with DS who has autism. People are very quick to judge and they know nothing. Absolutely nothing.

littlefrog3 · 21/03/2017 16:48

It's both judgmental AND judgemental to slag someone's spelling off! Hmm

On some message forums, it's classed as trolling, and is punishable with warnings, and even a ban!

FWIW, 'judgmental' comes up as a spelling error when I type it on my laptop (windows 10.)

Spikeyball · 21/03/2017 16:51

If someone is giving you a bitchy look about this, they are a bitch and not worth thinking about.

MaryMcCarthy · 21/03/2017 16:53

lol @ judgemental face

Corialanusburt · 21/03/2017 16:54

There's nowt as weird as folk. As long as she's the exception and not the rule, don't worry about it. Chat to the nice ones.

Sigmund would be so proud of her.
