If you get chub rub what do you wear on holiday?

Argh. I'm fat. You may be the same size as me and not be fat but I'm fat. I go on holiday somewhere warm in 3 weeks. I get terrible chub rub- painful blisters and holes in my trousers chub rub. I've tried everything - deodorant, lube, the special creams, sudocream and followed the other posts on the subject only to end up with really painful blisters that leave me walking like John Wayne.

So AIBU to ask for suggestions on what to wear on holiday? I'm a massively out of proportion pear shape (18 bottom, 12/14 top). On a tight budget, must go with flip flops and be able to breast feed in it.

I'm doing my nut. All the floaty/ linen trousers make me look like my mum and make my arse look like dogs fighting in sack. I'm a young looking 30 and don't want to dress middle-aged.

TIA.

Another one here who swears by bandelettes, which allow you to stay much cooler than cycling shorts or long leg briefs. Which I'll also wear if it's slightly cooler. But bandelettes are a must.

Dry shampoo sprayed on your thighs stops chub rub (I always get it 😥) and you can get smaller handbag sized bottles now

In the past I cut an old pair of leggings into cycling short length. They worked well

SleepOhHowIMissYou · 23/03/2017 09:58

Amazon or eBay sell cheap cotton cycling shorts in various colours.

Body glide was a miracle when I was pregnant in the summer

steff13 · 23/03/2017 10:01

Is talc safe?

naranciata · 23/03/2017 10:05

Bodyglide brand anti chafing stick. Looks like deodorant. Apply once a day. Get it from triathlon/running shop. Honestly the I only thing that works.

OhHolyFuck · 23/03/2017 10:09

I have a few pairs of these
Longer length and they're made of a silky material so my thighs just glide past each other, no rubbing
Lace on the bottom so if they are seen under a knee length skirt, I don't mind as much
Tons on eBay, not too badly priced

Google anti chaffing shorts. I got similar ones from Littlewoods they were lightweight and not too long so I could wear minidresses on holiday without chafing.

BagittoGo · 23/03/2017 10:58

Evans do shorts to wear under dresses to stop thighs rubbing. They add marginally to your size as they're in a tights like fabric. I think 18 might be the smallest size though. Better than wasting time and effort in talc and creams etc

Confused59 · 23/03/2017 11:36

Lanacane anti chaffing gel , best thing for healing and prevention

DragonNoodleCake · 24/03/2017 00:19

Place marking because I too feel your pain (and have done throughout my size 10 - 16 adult life!)

Bejazzled · 24/03/2017 00:28

I've got the ones Ohholy mapentions, from eBay £3 a pair

Bejazzled · 24/03/2017 00:28

Mapentions? Wtf, mentions

kerryob · 24/03/2017 00:41

Big bloomers is great get my tights from them as I could never wear dresses due to chub rub really good quality

'On a tight budget, must go with flip flops and be able to breast feed in it.'

Sorry nothing to add, this made me laff though.

toffeeboffin · 24/03/2017 01:02

Sorry, while I'm here I'll add :

Why are people offended by the term chub rub? Especially as op penned it.

Yes yes to pp's who said that weight loss won't necessarily get rid of it - I've been an 8 and a 16 and have always had it. I simply have chunky inner thighs, it's where I carry my weight.

toffeeboffin · 24/03/2017 01:03

P. S Have a good hol, pitchfork 🏖️

www.thebigtightscompany.co.uk/shop/all-woman-anti-chafing-short-leg-knickers-with-lace/

I have these and they are amazing. I was worried they'd dig in at the bottom into my legs but don't. Has transformed wearing maxi dresses and you don't get too hot.
