If you get chub rub what do you wear on holiday?

Argh. I'm fat. You may be the same size as me and not be fat but I'm fat. I go on holiday somewhere warm in 3 weeks. I get terrible chub rub- painful blisters and holes in my trousers chub rub. I've tried everything - deodorant, lube, the special creams, sudocream and followed the other posts on the subject only to end up with really painful blisters that leave me walking like John Wayne.

So AIBU to ask for suggestions on what to wear on holiday? I'm a massively out of proportion pear shape (18 bottom, 12/14 top). On a tight budget, must go with flip flops and be able to breast feed in it.

I'm doing my nut. All the floaty/ linen trousers make me look like my mum and make my arse look like dogs fighting in sack. I'm a young looking 30 and don't want to dress middle-aged.

TIA.

Cycling type cotton shorts it is.

Olympia yes I know I need to lose weight, and I am, but I'm not going to lose 2 stone in 3 weeks.

And breastfeeding has actually prevented me losing weight! My weight loss has sped up since cutting back feeding.

When I was 10 stone it didn't happen, think if I'm under 11ish it certainly was never noticeable.

Thanks guys.

Leggings/cycling shorts that you've cut down under a maxi or I worn linen trousers and lose fitted, flowy trousers on my last holiday with tank tops.

Also, I used Burt's bees baby powder, kept topping it up and had no chafing. Think it's due to the corn starch. It smells divine too!

WanderingNotLost · 20/03/2017 12:00

Body glide!!! Absolute miracle stuff for me. Prior to discovering that I also did the cycling shorts thing.

Fluffyears · 20/03/2017 12:22

I wear the shorts fro the big bloomer company...they are awesome and also bandelletes which are stretchy bands with silicone strips to stay in place. I thought they'd be useless but I managed to do a full day at work with a 30 minute walk in them and also a three hour flight, transport to hotel as well. They really stick in place.

Funnyonion17 · 20/03/2017 12:31

Well I've never heard that term before! I've always had big thighs, even at size 12 they were large. I used to be an 18 but they never rubbed, could it be a sweating thing rather then your weight? As a size 18 isn't a size i would consider really large enough to suffer from blisters etc. I would find the creams worse tbh, what about baby powder? The maxi dress and shorts suggestion up thread sounds a good idea too.

thenorthernluce · 20/03/2017 13:12

Bandelettes changed my life! They are basically just the tops of hold up stockings you wear around your thighs to stop the chub rub, and they are quite sexy to boot. I bought mine from Amazon, so have a search. I am a size 12, so by no means fat, and my thighs always rub together, so it's not all about size but shape.

slug · 20/03/2017 13:29

Normally I just wear shorts but long line knickers changed my life.

The other thing I do that works, most of the time, is spray antiperspirant, let it dry then add a layer of baby talc. It does wear off and needs to be topped up but it's more persistent and less likely to sweat off than body glide and similar items.

LiviaDrusillaAugusta · 20/03/2017 13:30

Chub rub is a horrible expression! Especially as some posters are saying they don't have to be that big to get it.

Can you not wear what you would normally wear?

RusholmeRuffian · 20/03/2017 13:31

Another vote for Bandilettes. They can be worn under anything, stay put and eradicate chub rub.

KinkyAfro · 20/03/2017 13:42

Well no-one has taken offence livia and what does can you not wear what you usually wear even mean? Have you read the op?

LiviaDrusillaAugusta · 20/03/2017 13:48

Yes thank you. The OP was asking what to wear on holiday so I suggested wearing what she would normally wear as presumably they don't cause too much of an issue.

littleducks · 20/03/2017 13:50

I was in Primary today and saw some legging material shorts that would be perfect for under dresses etc....they were far too thin and hideous to wear as outer garments but we're placed not to 80s style bodies and ballet cardigans in my local brach

JoeMaplin · 20/03/2017 13:56

These are amazing....www.chaffree.com. wouldn't be without them in hot weather.

LucyAutumn · 20/03/2017 13:57

I cut the bottom leg part out of tights and wear them underneath skirts in the summer- lifesaver!
I also use sudocrem for healing over night if I do end up with any sores.

mrsBeverleygoldberg · 20/03/2017 14:09

Bandalettes.

Pitchforktotheface · 20/03/2017 14:12

Livia I wear smart work trousers or jeans normally. Far to hot for on a holiday to a hot country.

funnyonion It's definitely my fat - I get holes in my jeans where it happens and if I'm walking around bare legged you can hear them clap together Blush

FumBluff1 · 20/03/2017 15:08

I like cargo shorts with a vest :)

Astoria7974 · 20/03/2017 15:19

Where do you get the rub? If it's lower thigh then you should wear bicycle shorts. If higher then just boy-shorts will do.

I am pearshaped too & usually find really sheer tights help (think 5-10 dernier).

Astoria7974 · 20/03/2017 15:20

Footless tights!

goose1964 · 20/03/2017 15:22

I just use cocoa butter, it leaves a protective layer and stops any friction

Astoria7974 · 20/03/2017 15:26

Goose - am guessing you don't have slap happy thighs? Cocoa butter would just cook mine lol

MrsTrentReznor · 20/03/2017 15:40

Another bodyglide fan here!
My boyfriend has pinched it for the gym though.
Hmm

FooFighter99 · 20/03/2017 15:41

www.yoursclothing.co.uk/white-lace-mesh-thigh-slimmer-p

I have a few pairs of these as I am also fat and suffer from Hidradenitis Suppurativa.... these help when the boils become unbearable! They do them in a lovely silk too Smile

Have a fantastic holiday!
