AIBU.. To deliberately change the password?

DP thinks IABU, What do you think?

Next door asked DP if he could have our Wi-Fi password as they were moving in a couple of days and they've had their internet etc disconnected. DP gave the NDN our password... All fine I don't mind helping someone out for a few days.

It's now been nearly 4 weeks and their still here, using our wi-fi. DP spoke to them earlier and apparently they're now not moving for another few weeks.

AIBU to change the wifi password and if NDN wants it, they can contribute to our internet bill? I don't mind helping someone out but 2 months will be taking the piss.. What if they don't go?

I would leave it. Couldn't be bothered to get annoyed at this.

StudentMum92 · 19/03/2017 14:03

It's been changed! For the record, I did not give the password out DP did, he did it without consulting me. If he had asked me I would have said no... Should have changed it immediately I know!

I wouldn't mind with MY neighbours. It's a nice correction of people I don't know well but am happy enough to share things with. If you're not happy with your neighbours then change it.

ememem84 · 19/03/2017 14:08

Good that you've changed it. Does dp know it's been changed?

Make sure he doesn't tell them the new password

diddl · 19/03/2017 14:18

I'd have changed it after the two days-if I'd given it out in the first place!

StudentMum92 · 19/03/2017 14:19

Yes he's been going round all the devices to reconnect.. He didn't think either and he's glad that we've changed it!

If neighbours come knocking we'll just say we're having problems ourselves connecting!

Why lie? Tell them the truth - they're the ones who should be embarrassed.

Peanutandphoenix · 19/03/2017 14:31

Change it I had to do this with my cheeky bastard of a NDN he over used my interenet for about 2 months never paid a penny towards it so I switched the router off one night and went out I got loads of text messages that night because the Internet wasn't working any longer when I got back I changed the router name and the password. It made my NDN get his arse in gear and sort out his own Internet like he had been saying he would for fucking months.

DonaldStott · 19/03/2017 14:35

Glad you've changed it. I was going to say as pp's have said, whatever they look at will be tracked to you. E.g.illegaly downloading music/films.

olderthanyouthink · 19/03/2017 14:43

TBH if you were doing stuff that was that illegal you'd have to be pretty thick to do it in a way that could lead back to you.

Downloading TV shows though isn't something I'd do on anyone elses network (other than public ones)

PunjanaTea · 19/03/2017 14:57

You could also change the name of your wifi network to 'get your own broadband you cheap bastards' Wink

SquinkiesRule · 19/03/2017 15:01

I love it, now wait foor the knock on the door.
Tell them they were sucking all the bandwidth and going over on your limeted internet. chancers.

StudentMum92 · 19/03/2017 22:08

So we've just had a know on the door, NDN asking for if the wi fi is working! DP answered the door and said that we've reached the broadband limit. NDN has the cheek to ask if we're going to buy any more?!? DP says no not unless you're offering, NDN laughs and leaves! Cheeky bastard!!
