My 18 month old steals my lipsticks all the time. All the time. I've not got a lipstick that is unassaulted. Because our house is tiny, there's nowhere I can put them that is out of her reach.
I was thinking of buying her a lip balm stick that she can bash to her little heart's content, but don't think that would be particularly safe. I obviously don't want to give her make up or kids' make up though.
Any suggestions please?

My dd has a nail polish/make up cage type rack on the inside of her wardrobe door.
How do you cope with razor blades and scissors etc?
Just store your lipstick somewhere away from your other make up.
Put up a shelf or medicine cabinet that she can't open that locks etc etc.

There is no hate.

Just surprise.

Put you makeup on in the bathroom. Or stood in the kitchen.

blueskyinmarch · 17/03/2017 16:09

Why can't you do your make up elsewhere? Standing in the kitchen? Bathroom? Bedroom?

Thatextrainch · 17/03/2017 16:10

My 20 month ate my chapstick yesterday. She didn't enjoy it. Still alive though.

Stopthatdog · 17/03/2017 16:11

My DD was also obsessed with my make up. I tried to keep it out of reach and then at 2.5 one of the grandmothers gave her a small make up bag with a little mirror, simple moisturiser and a plain lip balm stick. I was slightly horrified but she loved it and also having her own things to experiment with dampened the obsession. I8mths is quite little but if you're confident she won't just eat it I'd probably give it a go.

A friend's little boy (around the same age) choked on a glob on lip balm. Very scary. It's so light it's easily inhaled but sticky and can completely seal a tube up airtight! He's fine now; ambulance, night in hospital etc. No to lip balm I would say.

There's so much hate on this thread though.

Grin Grin Grin

Think everyone's just amazed that you have no storage above three foot tall in your house.

GahBuggerit · 17/03/2017 16:12

no hate at all, i think just surprise that someone is asking for advice on how to keep lipsticks away from a baby

Bundesliga · 17/03/2017 16:12

Hate?

Oh my god. This is just nuts.

Topseyt · 17/03/2017 16:13

Just don't let her have them.

I used to find a good loud NO!!, deeply growled, was very effective. And mean it.

Yellowbird54321 · 17/03/2017 16:13

I've read worse Grin

SparkleTwinkleGoldGlitter · 17/03/2017 16:14

Hate on this thread? Umm no people are just shocked you have no part of your home that your child can't reach 😂

joystir59 · 17/03/2017 16:14

Just share your lipstick with her, stop being so mean. Tried to resist being sarcastic

BounceBounceSplishSplash · 17/03/2017 16:15

Seriously? The top shelf of a kitchen cupboard. I'm assuming your 18 month old isn't yet able to fetch a ladder and climb up it.

Not hate, just common sense.

watchoutformybutt · 17/03/2017 16:16

Grin haters gon' hate

WorraLiberty · 17/03/2017 16:16

Haterz gonna hate hun Thanks xxxxxxx

BrieAndChilli · 17/03/2017 16:19

Surely when she approaches your make up you just say No don't touch?!!! I can undestsand her doing it a couple of times but for her to do it all the time she must not have been given an very clear message that she's not allowed to touch them.
Could you not get her some plastic make up to play with

RebelRogue · 17/03/2017 16:19

Obviously you have no choice but to let them eat them.

ZilphasHatpin · 17/03/2017 16:20

There's so much hate on this thread though.

Yeah, we MNers really hate, er.... lipstick? Tall toddlers? Restricting toddlers' cosmetic creativity? Confused

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 17/03/2017 16:21

Is this a wind up?

Put a hook on the back of a door high up, put your lipsticks in a bag and hang it up!

When at dd's I hang my bag on a high coat hook, well out of reach, otherwise Gdd would have everything out of it, inc. lipsticks.

buckeejit · 17/03/2017 16:21

Megalolz. If you'd said in the op you were talking about only when you're applying make up responses may have been different. I've had no trouble taking stuff out of my makeup bag & putting it in when I'm done. Unless you take about an hour to put makeup on it should be doable. Hth

AnyFucker · 17/03/2017 16:21

Some people are just really, really stupid

Mynestisfullofempty · 17/03/2017 16:22
